After the war the camps were split up into agricultural small holdings and the army huts were used as dwellings; part of this cottage was the army cookhouse, hence the name. There were many huts here in the 1960’s however The Old Cook House is the only remaining army hut in the area.

A very comfortable and well thought out property with lots of little touches that made it a home from home for our week. Very quiet location sandwiched at the end of housing adjacent to open countryside. Really well equipped kitchen (a rarity in holiday cottages in my experience) and good quality appliances, furniture and furnishings. Attentive yet unobtrusive hosts who were quick to help when I couldn't work out how to use or find something. Very dog friendly with a secure garden and walks locally. Unexpected lovely welcome pack of snacks, drinks and milk with initial stock of tea and coffee provided.

Our second time at The Old Cook House and already booked to return again later in the year. We find this a great comfortable place to relax. The property is clean and has all you need for your self catering stay. Comfy sofa’s and beds. Close to amenities. Good for visiting places in the area and especially the old town of Winchester. Set at the end of a no through road. Plenty of walks close by. Great enclosed garden for our small dogs. Our dogs are so happy here. Tanya is very welcoming but once she settles you in she will be on hand if you need her but otherwise leaves you to enjoy your break. Fully recommend.
