About this property

Casa Florio, No. 7, Torrichi, is a 2 bedroom apartment (upstairs apartment) incorporated into an ancient farm comprising 12 beautifully renovated stone buildings . Designed in traditional Tuscan country style with chestnut beamed ceilings and terracotta tiled floors. It is light and spacious with doors leading from the well equipped kitchen/lounge to Master bedroom with 4 poster king-size wrought iron bed and large wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has 2 single wrought iron beds and a wardrobe. There is fully equipped shower room with power shower, sink, bidet and washing machine. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge.

The shared swimming pool has its own sunbathing terrace, lawns and gazebo with breath taking views. The hillside breezes offer a refreshing respite from the heat - ideal after a day of sightseeing.

The apartment's private garden has a brick built BBQ and patio area for al fresco dining beneath a pergola. As you walk through an arch, near the featured well (closed in), there is a small seated terraced area to enjoy watching the stunning sunsets.

Not wheelchair accessible, and not best for people unable to walk up stairs

Excellent apartment and beautiful scenery

A family of five had a great stay at the excellent apartment. Airconditioned and everything at hand. Kathy was a quite quick landlord to react to any messages. Thank you for a nice stay.

Beautiful Appartement and countryside

Lovely cozy house with a stunning view

An absolutely amazing experience. The location is unbelievably beautiful. The house was perfect for our 4-day stay in Tuscany. Close enough to the sights to not be an inconvenience, but also far away enough to get away for some peace and quiet. The host was courteous and gladly answered any questions with haste.

We have family roots in Italy. My father was Italian, Riccardo Florio, from southern Italy, & my mother was from Southern Ireland. they both met in London, England and my 3 brothers and I grew up there. We enjoyed a mostly Mediterranean lifestyle, as we all loved the food, wine and music, and still do! We bought this property after my parents passed away and in remembrance of them, we bought our little piece of Italy and named our home 'Casa Florio.' We have kept the style of our property as typically traditional Italian and are happy to share with you our tranquil home in a beautiful part of Tuscany.

Why they chose this property

This property is approximately 20 minutes drive from the UNESCO World Heritage town of San Gimignano, Podere Torricchi is a tastefully restored ancient farm situated on a hilltop overlooking the rolling Tuscan countryside. The apartment is on the first floor and is one of 12 properties on this site. There is a private garden and terrace, plus a further little terrace near the featured 'closed in well.' The property also benefits from communal gardens and a large swimming pool approx 17m x 8m x 1.5m (unheated). The pool is open from 1st May to 30 September and is surrounded by a paved and grassed area with covered gazebo. Sun loungers are provided specifically for guests of this property.

What makes this property unique

The views from the apartment are truly stunning. They extend for over 30 miles and on clear days, you can see the Appenine mountains. The ancient hilltop town of Volterra can also be seen from Podere Torricchi. This charming town is well known for its 2 fine castles and Etruscan remains. The ambiance of Volterra is extremely attractive and definitely worth a visit.

Siena, Lucca, Pisa & Florence, are approximately one hour's drive and there is also easy access to Florence by rail from nearby Castelfiorentino. The nearest restaurants are approximately 10 mins drive (not walkable) and supermarkets 20 minutes.
