Please note: This property will allow families and couples bookings only. Sorry, no hen or stag parties.. This beautifully furnished cottage has lots of character. At the front of the property, you have a lawned garden with seating area on the patio, with a footpath leading to the front door.
Stepping inside the hallway leads you to the welcoming front lounge, with a wood burning stove providing warmth as well as a cosy atmosphere. There is also a second lounge, also equipped with its own wood burner so that you can branch out into separate rooms in an evening if you wish. The kitchen is bright and modern with a separate dining room with patio doors leading out into the rear garden. If you enjoy cooking then this is a great choice as the kitchen equipment goes that little step further with a popcorn maker and antique tea service in the cupboard. The ground floor is completed with a toilet for added convenience.
Upstairs there is a well-presented double bedroom as well as the bathroom which has both a bath as well as a cubicle shower so that you have the option of both. The owners have paid careful attention to detail and a lot of love has gone into furnishing each room.
Sure to delight you is the hot tub in the garden, which is heated by a wood burning stove. A novel way to spend an evening under the stars, as tendrils of steam rise around you.
Willowfield Cottage is ideal for romantic getaways, as well as a perfect base for walkers or cyclists looking to explore the local area. You are located very close to the centre of the village and its independent shops, pubs, tearooms and ice cream parlour. Thornton le Dale attracts many visitors, who come to soak up the picture perfect scenery, following footpaths as well as the stream which meanders through the village.
You are just a few minutes’ drive to the popular market town of Pickering with the North Yorkshire Heritage Railway where you can board a steam train running along the picturesque Esk Valley to reach the historic coastal town of Whitby as well as stopping at some beautiful villages across the national park on the way.
Some popular attractions such as Dalby Forest, Ryedale Folk Museum as well as Castle Howard are an easy drive away and the property is just 18 miles from the coast or a 40-minute drive to York. The village has a bike shop where you can hire bikes to visit Dalby by day or enjoy a fire baked Pizza by night. The village is a hive of activity in October, when the nearby village of Pickering hosts its 1940s War Weekend and again in December for the annual Christmas lights and Fete. All year round this is a beautiful destination with plenty to see and do nearby.
