About this property
Longwood Lodges (Luxury Log Cabin with hot tub)
Long Wood Lodges provides: A luxury 2 bedroom (4 berth) wooden lodge that has been purpose built, high on the edge of Reeves & Stonewall Hill just outside Knighton, Mid Wales, where you will enjoy Panoramic views across rolling countryside viewable from either the comfort of the lounge area with the log burner roaring in the corner or from the decking, were the hot tub looks out over the valley below, simply sit back and relax. All Bookings include a bespoke tailored welcome basket as well as Log fire starter kit (winter) or a disposable BBQ (summer). EV charging (7KW) is available on site for an additional charge.
It is a predominantly rural area with excellent dark skies for star gazing, on a clear night the Milky Way is clearly visible, the Space guard Centre (small observatory) is less than 0.5 miles along the road and well worth a visit, while being a rural location, you also have easy access to more major towns & cities, country life is why people come and visit and in many cases return year on year or even move to this beautiful unspoiled area to escape the ‘rat race’ and take life at a slower more enjoyable pace.
The lodge is situated in a 10-acre plot where children as well as the more adventurous adults can play and explore the countryside.
Your Hosts the MacPherson Family live just over the field, so if you need anything just ask, otherwise we leave you to enjoy the peace.
Nearby are many excellent walks with the famous Offa’s Dyke running through Knighton (Tref-y-Clawdd, meaning the town on the Dyke), the tourist office, situated within the Offa’s Dyke visitors centre in Knighton offers excellent advice.
For the more adventurous there are many bike trails with the 'black' downhill mountain bike run at Hopton Woods about 5 miles away (we can arrange drop off or pick-ups with your bikes and we have free mountain bike jet washing facilities on-site) not to mention the many horse-riding trails and centres, rally driving and canoeing all within easy reach.
Days out can include a visit to the nearby historic towns of Ludlow or Hay-on-Wye both having many festivals and celebrations throughout the year, as well as many local shops, bars and restaurants. A trip to nearby Rhayader is also highly recommended to marvel at the damns in Ellan Valley or visit the Red Kite Feeding Station & Rehabilitation Centre.
There are many famous landmarks in the area with Powys Castle, Ludlow Castle & Croft Castle, not to mention some great walking trails at Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd, Radnor Forest and Mortimer’s Forest to name but a few, or just come, sit back and relax and enjoy the views, bird song and the stars.
