The wife and I stayed here for a week in early May for a historic small-town vacation. One of our deciding factors on which city to visit was the fabulous property with its large private pool.
The pool house was the perfect size for 2. The full kitchen was only lacking a toaster oven as the full-sized one was unnecessary for us. The bed was firm, but comfortable. The walk-in shower had good water pressure and a nice rain head. Hermes soap, pool towels and other basics were provided.
The TV had issues, but we were allowed to use the one in the adjacent, unoccupied (gorgeous) mansion. The gas grill provided nice meals for the patio table. The outdoor ceiling fan worked, but had seen better days as one of the five blades was missing. Laundry facilities are available in the garage utility room.
The host, John, was very responsive. His local representative, Lorna, was fantastic. We were provided fresh flowers, fruit, water and juices on arrival. She even kindly made some delicious shrimp, rice , pasta and eggrolls for us. She was attentive without being intrusive.
The downtown was a 3 block walk away. We drove at night as the surrounding neighborhood looked a bit sketchy after dark.
Our reviews of the local restaurants and haunted house will be available shortly. Spoiler alert, our favorite was Walnut Hills which is literally just across the street.
Overall, this was our best VRBO experience to date. I can't fathom a better place to stay at in Vicksburg. John has set the standard for future hosts to try and measure up to.
