About this property

A charming cottage nestled in the historic Fostoria Neighborhood.

Find your home away from home with us in our charming 1400 square feet, two story home nestled in the historic Fostoria Neighborhood. We are super close to downtown, the military park, and Interstate but in a quaint residential neighborhood. The Cottage on Dewitt is centrally located and is located just around the corner from the beautiful Fannie Willis Johnson Home, also known as Oak Hall B&B. You can explore antique shops, museums, and national historic sites.

If antiques are your passion, we recommend a visit to The Open Market where you will find Wayne’s Antiques located inside along with a number of other vendors.

If museums and history are your passion, there are plenty to choose from. Some of our favorite museums are Vicksburg National Military Park, The Civil War Museum, the Lower Mississippi River Museum, the Old Depot Museum, the Southern Heritage Air Foundation, Catfish Row Museum, and the Old Court House Museum. You can’t miss going to see the historic Riverfront Murals painted on the river levee walls either.

You will want to check out some of the nearby restaurants, casinos and indulge in everything that the city has to offer. Here are a few of our favorite dining locations to choose from:

Anchuca - For a Romantic Dinner Out and the BEST Sunday Brunch ever! The setting is in an historic intimate BnB setting. The filet is fantastic! So is everything on the brunch menu! It’s all good! Here is a link to their hours and menu: https://anchuca.com/?page_id=269.

10 South Rooftop and Bar - Has the Best View of the River! You must try it for appetizers and a cocktail while watching the sunset! https://www.10southrooftop.com/

Key City Brewery and Eatery is open 7 days a week! Woohoo! This Mississippi brewery is a place you do not want to miss! Amazing craft brews, California style pizza, fried pickles, salads, sandwiches and more! https://keycitybeer.com/
Rusty’s Riverfront Grill - Whether you’re looking for blackened redfish with a crawfish cream sauce or a classic rib eye steak, Rusty’s has you covered. Located one block from the historic Riverfront Murals painted on the river levee walls and two blocks from the Old Courthouse Museum. Open Tuesday – Friday 11 AM – 2 PM and 5 PM – 10 PM and Saturday 11 AM – 10 PM. (https://www.rustysriverfront.com/)

Walnut Hills – This is the place you go for lunch or dinner when you are hungry for some great southern cuisine! The atmosphere is awesome, and so is the food! The menu is diverse and seriously everything is consistently great! Don’t bypass the dessert because Chris can bake some amazing cakes and pies! You won’t be sorry! https://walnuthillsms.com/

If you prefer to prepare your own meals, you will find a fully equipped kitchen to satisfy your inner chef.

Casinos your thing? After a day spent exploring Vicksburg, head to one of the town's four riverfront casinos for a night of gaming, entertainment and fun with friends and family. Each casino offers their own dining options for guests to enjoy. You have the Ameristar Casino, Ballys Vicksburg, Riverwalk Casino and WaterView Casino. Visit Vicksburg's page provides all the information you need to choose which one to visit. (https://www.visitvicksburg.com/casinos-in-vicksburg-mississippi/ )

There are so many day trips from Vicksburg that are incredible! A few of our favorites include:
The Mississippi Petrified Forest (https://www.mspetrifiedforest.com/index.php); Grand Gulf Military Park and Windsor Ruins (https://www.mdah.ms.gov/explore-mississippi/windsor-ruins); Poverty Point World Heritage Site (https://www.povertypoint.us/); and the Sky Lake Boardwalk and Yazoo City where you will see some of the oldest Cypress Trees in the World (https://www.mdwfp.com/wildlife-hunting/wma/region/north-delta/sky-lake/).
