It was a joy to have a week on Patmos at the beautiful farm house over Easter where there was a wonderful view of the sea, warm sunshine, easy walking access to Scala and a tastefully furnished home to be in. If l return to Patmos, l would welcome the opportunity to stay again.
Loved the house. As the title states it is an "old house" that has been nicely restored and upgraded with great attention to maintaining the traditional Patmos farm house experience. Plus, the views are amazing!Antonia, the local host was great. Our ferry arrived at 2:30 AM. I had reached out in advance and she had arranged a rental car to be waiting for us. This was a life saver, as one really needs a car to reach the house with luggage. If you are finding the house in the dark it can be a little bit of a challenge the first time, but should not deter staying here. Direction suggestions I would offer: When looking for the church and the graveyard (very hard to see in the dark) look across the street for trash dumpsters. Plus, identifying the power company building (flags on top) is an easier landmark to find. The turn is just before it. Once you make the turn you will do two switch back turns as you climb the hill. At the first T in the road go right, at the second stay to left. Only caution I might offer when considering if this is the right house for your vacation is: Read the listing carefully, the house is advertised as a 3 bedroom, with one of the bedrooms being the "Living Room" which is wide open and walked through to get to the second bedroom. I would suggest this really a 2 bedroom home with extra futon style additional beds in living room.My family definitely wants to come back for another stay! I would not hesitate to book this house again!

It’s a joy that more people discover the pleasure of visiting Patmos in the winter - a different but very special experience. Erik and his family are of course welcome back at any time of the year.
It was a pleasure having Madeleine and her family as guests in Patmoshills.
They will be very welcome back.
About the host
Hosted by Arne Abrahamsen
We are living in Norway. I am working as a communications adviser. My wife is from California, so we also spend a lot of time in the US. I first visited Patmos in 1972 when I spent a whole year living there. Since then Patmos has been a second home both for the two of us and for our children and grandchildren.
My wife and I ten years ago decided that this is where we want to spend our retirement. We purchased what we think is one of the most spectacular properties on the island and are gradually building and rebuilding houses to use ourselves, for our friends and to rent.
Why they chose this property
Patmos Hills is not built as a rental. It is our own house where we live in the winter months. We are renting it the rest of the year because we wanted others to be able to share the joy we have living in Kastelli and enjoying the serene beauty of the holy island of Patmos.
That also means the property is constantly upgraded, both for ourselves and according to input from our guests. We are now working on planting a new vineyard and a new fruit garden at the lower part of the property.
What makes this property unique
Patmos Hills is located at the top of a hill overlooking the port of Skala and offers you majestic views of the ocean, the village and the traditional monastery of St. John.
The house is only 300 meters from the beach and about 6 minutes from the town Centre, but you are surrounded by 3000 square meters of traditional farmland with 100 year old pines and olive trees, making your stay quiet and rejuvenating.
We bought this property - having looked at about 50 other houses - because it is so central, and yet private. This is nice because you can walk to town to get your fresh bread in the morning and home from the restaurants in the evening.
My dream is to little by little develop Patmos Hills as an integrated part of the village, with more houses, a central square, more trees and flowers.
We are passionate about the island, and want to do our utmost to preserve and develop its traditional values and natural beauty.
