Charming and comfortable!
Arriving from Provence in the evening during a downpour, we were warmly greeted by Linda with a homemade cake and quickly settle into our gite. The gite was modern and comfortable, private enough for 2 couples and a great location for touring around the area. Both Linda and Chris are lovely and happy to share information including best routes, places to park (important in busy, small towns) and favorite restaurants. We highly recommend the wine class/tasting class with Linda - really informative and we all learned things about the wine in that area - super! It was a great time of year to be in the area - not too many tourists. In short, it is a lovely, comfortable setting with easy access to the sights of the region. And if you are a cat person, Muscat the kitty is happy to get to know you as well!
The gîte is set in beautiful countryside. Magnificent views across vineyards to Mont Ventoux.
The garden and swimming pool are excellent. We had a restful/peaceful stay there.
We were so grateful for the air conditioning in the bedrooms. The temperature was 41 when we were there!
My only criticism would be that the inside of the gîte does not live up to its beautiful setting - the bathrooms in particular need modernising.
The outside furniture outside our gîte and by the pool was very tatty and needs replacing.
These things were a shame because they let down our overall impression.
It could be made really spectacular.
Wonderful hosts, nothing too much trouble and great local knowledge.

Romance in Provence
Booked online for a week's stay in the gite at Auberge du Vin as we wanted somewhere romantic for Valentine's Day! The directions were easy to follow and even though we arrived late, Linda and Chris were so welcoming and even left us an 'apero' and some nibbles! Gite Tourelle is smartly furnished in traditional Provencal colours and every mod con is provided. Parking is not a problem and is very secure as the main gates to the courtyard are locked at night. The gardens are beautifully maintained and the pool area looks very inviting, I bet in summertime it is wonderful! The gite itself has two good sized bedrooms (one double and one twin), each with its own bathroom, there is a lounge/dining room and kitchen area. The weather was quite chilly but the central heating was very effective and there is also a log fire (with plentiful supplies of old vines to burn).
Chris and Linda were very helpful in recommending markets, shops, restaurants etc, especially which vineyards to visit. Linda is a qualified wine tutor for WSET and is on hand to offer professional tips - I would thoroughly recommend one of her courses, I never realised how much I didn't know about wine until I did the course!
The small town of Mazan is a five minute drive (bars, restaurants, supermarket), but Carpentras is only ten minutes away if you want to do a big supermarket shop (the market on Fridays is well worth a visit, particularly in the winter as they have a special truffle market)...
Perne les Fontaines is worth a visit as is Isle sur la Sorgue on a Sunday for its antiques market (both a short drive south, then on to Avignon for some culture); going north Orange is worth a look with its Roman amphitheatre, also Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras for some serious wine tasting...
With the new station opening soon in Carpentras with direct links to Avignon and Marseille, this makes travelling a lot easier; Marseille and Montpellier airports are 1h 20 and 1h 30 respectively and Avignon airport (summertime only) is 30 minutes away.
All in all, we had a wonderful time - can't wait to come back again!

We were there the first week of October 2010. Weather was wonderful, even managed a couple of dips in the pool! An extremely comfortable property set in stunning surroundings with a glorious view of Mont Ventoux to greet you each morning! If wine tasting is to be part of your visit, you will be spoilt for choice as there are so many places to go. We would highly recommend taking advantage of one of Linda's wine tasting courses and suggest you do this at the start of your visit. It was a very informal, informative and enjoyable few hours and her help and advice was very valuable. A visit to nearby Auberge Camarette for a special evening meal is a delightful experience. Linda will give you the details. You will need to have use of a car to make the most of this delightful area. A visit is highly recommended.

A great holiday choice
We have been holidaying at Gite Tourelle for three consecutive years and are going back this summer : it is located in an idyllic and very quiet area, amongst the vines with a backdrop of Mont Ventoux and Dentelles de Montmirail. The gite is comfortable, the property beautiful with a big garden and lovely swimming pool. It is great for tourism with places like Arles, Orange, Marseille nearby and landmarks like Le Pont du Gard. Some of the most beautiful villages of France are close by and, for those who like walking or cycling, this is an ideal region. And importantly, Linda and Chris are perfect hosts,, interesting and helpful and so welcoming that it is a bit like coming back home every summer for us.

A week in Provence (every year)
We first discovered this rural gem in 2007 and have re-visited each year since. With abundant sunshine, mature 'English' garden, swimming pool and a stunning view of Mont Ventoux it is quite idyllic. It is a marvellous base from which to explore the Luberon, Provence and the Camargue.
The cottage is clean and well maintained. It has two bathrooms, a modern kitchen and is simply, but comfortably, furnished. The is no TV but we are happy to listen to the radio and usually take a few CDs with us.There is a selection of novels, magazines, maps and guides to help you enjoy a relaxing holiday. And if you cannot find what you need you have English owners on site. Chris and Linda, who live in the adjacent property, are ever helpful and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive.
What can be more pleasant than sitting in the warm sunshine by the pool with a gass of wine gazing across the vineyards to Mont Ventoux. Ventoux is well worth a visit for the incredible panorama. To the north you can see the distant Alps and to the south you can see for miles across the provencale plains. If you are feeling energetic you can take a cycle ride up the mountain but the last few kilometres are fairly challenging!
If you enjoy wine you will be spoilt for choice here. There are numerous restaurants within easy reach, dotted around the local villages. However, this does mean you need to be prepared for a short drive if you do not feel like cooking for yourself and 'eating in'.
We would happily recommend this property - indeed one of our (grown up) children last year took up the recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Provencal Dream
We spent a week here in October '09 and had the most blissful time. We stayed in Gite Tourelle which is beautifully and very tastefully furnished with every conceivable mod con. There's plenty of room to park and more importantly plenty of space to lounge around the pool! The whole place is extremely well maintained - it's lovely to have two bathrooms (the secret to a happy marriage..); a big plus is that the beds (one double room, one twin) are extremely comfortable (not always the case with rented accommodation).
The gite feels very safe and secure as it is within the grounds of the main house but you still feel as if you are in your own private space. It's made of stone which kept it lovely and cool during the day and there's central heating and a log fire (to burn old vines in) to keep you warm in the evenings.
The friendly owners live in the main house and are very knowledgeable about the local area (shops, restaurants, attractions, markets, vineyards etc), without being intrusive.
Short drive into Mazan for necessities; Carpentras has a couple of large supermarkets for more choice, also market day on Friday.
Highly recommend Chez Serge restaurant in nearby Carpentras (Serge was voted France's top sommelier recently), also market day in Isle sur la Sorgue is an absolute must - great for antiques and people watching!
Drive up to Chateauneuf du Pape for a real insight into the world of wine making (some very small producers as well as the larger, more recognisable names), it's also got some beautiful views.
Location is ideal - A7 motorway is within a couple of miles (though you won't hear any traffic) and the coast is about an hour and a half.
Avignon is only about 20 minutes away (TGV station back to Paris) and is brimming with boutiques and stunning buildings.
Thoroughly recommend Gite Tourelle, it's a slice of Provencal life.
