About this property

Idyllic house in rural hamlet with lovely views, garden and private pool.

Built as a farmhouse in the mid-19th century, Bladanel is set on a ridge overlooking the beautiful Courbiac valley and with panoramic views of the 13th century Bastide town of Tournon situated high on an outcrop of rock. Tournon is 2-3km away with shops, bank, pharmacy, and good restaurants.
Bladanel is quiet and peaceful, with delightful and helpful French and Dutch neighbours. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, dotted with picturesque villages, farms and, of course, vinyards. The night sky is just magnificent; not a streetlight to be seen!

Roger & Jackie Thomas have owned Bladanel since 1995. We visit for a month twice a year and just love it there. Our neighbours, French and Dutch, are delightful and have all visited us at our home near Edinburgh. From there it's a good 2-day drive to Bladanel, but well worth it!

Why they chose this property

Bladanel is very quiet and peaceful, with splendid views of valleys on both front and back. There are as many farm tractors as cars on the road and almost always a wave as they pass by. The nearby 13th C town is some 2km away with boulangerie, alimentation (general store), butcher, cafe, restaurants, bank and pharmacie. Supermarkets are some 10km away in Fumel and Montagu de Quercy, where there is a market every Saturday morning. There are three vinyards within 3-4 km where you can buy directly.

What makes this property unique

Relaxation guaranteed. Not a streetlight nor nightclub in sight! Very friendly and helpful (if needed) French and Dutch neighbours. Evening highlights include watching the farmer's cows making their own way back to the byre in the valley below!
There is a 10x5m swimming pool that is also heated if required; there is an an extra weekly €50 charge to cover the costs of electricity for the pool heater. Not normally needed in high summer!
