The area surrounding Galloway Farmstay is breath-taking from the rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches and inland the Galloway Forest Park, Britain’s largest forest park with 300 square miles of wild beauty and where you will find the world renowned 7Stanes Mountain Bike Trail at Kirroughtree. There are many pretty little harbour villages to visit like Garlieston, just under 3 miles away, where you can walk along the sandy beach or the Isle of Whithorn where you sail, fish, or just sit and relax overlooking the bay.
Visit Wigtown, which has officially been designated as Scotland’s National Book Town with a wide range of book related businesses, a book lovers haven. The larger town of Newton Stewart, known as the Gateway to the Galloway Hills, also has many excellent shops and places to eat. Further along the coast visit the many pretty little ports like Sandhead and Portpatrick, or visit Scotland’s most southerly point, the RSPB Scotland Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve, where thousands of seabird’s nests in the cliff face during the spring and summer.
