* Fisherman’s Cottage * with panoramic river views
Take in breathtaking views across the estuary to Instow, and relax in this calm oasis. With nature on your doorstep, there are no end of coastal paths, local culinary delights and local arts to explore. Not to mention an active boatyard and fishing dock a stones throw from the cottage.
The cottage is newly renovated with luxury finishes throughout. Generous thick towels and 400 thread-count pure cotton bedding. The bathroom features responsibly sourced marble in the walk-in double rain-shower. And the paint is a melange of Farrow & Ball and Little Greene, providing luminescence throughout.
Appledore is adorable, set of the waterfront of an undulating peninsula. The house sits high on a look-out, up some 15 steps and is only a 6 minute walk to the Quay, at heart of the village. Benefitting from a charming vantage point, looking over the glistening water and across to Instow village. This view is especially pretty at night, with the sparkling waterfront lamps reflecting off the water.

Beautiful house with fantastic view of the river and Instow beyond. Sunny secure front garden for breakfast. Sun in the secure back garden later on. Really lovely bathroom. Pleasant walk into the centre. Calming decor. Thoroughly recommend.
We had a really lovely stay in this pretty & comfortable house. It has stylish decor and a great bathroom & kitchen. It is in a quiet residential area with outstanding views. Appledore is an easy walk away and we enjoyed exploring the town & restaurants. As has been said, the property is unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues but I would recommend for anyone looking for a stay in beautiful Devon.
Had a lovely 3 night break, cottage is lovely a really nice comfy bed and furnishings very nice, garden front and back gardens could do with a bit of tlc but can see that someone has started to put some plants in, would really make the cottage perfect if the outside pace were improved. Had an issue with getting onto property due to Vrbo giving us an incorrect code for the key box!! Appledore is a great place everything just a short stroll away, good pubs and The Yard is a fab place to eat.
Paper thin curtains and an extremely loud bed. Overall satisfied with the interior but the garden and the location of the property left much to be desired - a bit of a dive to say the least. The rooms were illuminated as soon as the sun came up as the curtains didn't block any sunlight. We spilt some tea on one of the towels and were certain that it would have washed out. We returned home only to be greeted with a £60 bill from the owner for 4 towels. We queried it and low and behold no proof could be provided. We assume the owner had washed it out and thought she would try it on. Overall we enjoyed ourselves in Appledore but that was not because of our experience with the property. Avoid this place and find somewhere else.

Joshua, I’m disappointed by your review and the way you handled the damage at the property. Proof has been provided, showing permanent fake tan stains on our new white towels, but you have ignored them and not paid for any damage. I have replaced them at my own expense. I’m happy to let you know that the bed in the second bedroom has been replaced with a wooden frame, so I appreciate the feedback and noise is no longer an issue. I’m not sure I understand your comment about it being a long drive, we are a 6-8 minute walk from the waterside where the centre of the village is. I’m also happy to let you know that we’ve invested in garden furniture and more planting around the garden.
lovely cottage with beautiful decor, there was everything there we needed. the views from the bedroom and living room were stunning. we were very grateful we could take our dog, she loved the enclosed garden out the back to have a sniff around. good quality bedding and towels. Thank you! lovely jam.
Great dog friendly accommodation, set in a perfect location with easy walking access to the Village amenities and vehicular access to Westward Hol! If you’re happy to go a bit further afield, it’s also located only 40 minutes from Bude. The views of the estuary from the house are wonderful to wake up to. In terms of within the property, it has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. If you like to watch a bit of TV when you get in after a day/evening out, it’s worth remembering to take your iPad/tablet as there is no TV in the property but excellent WI-FI. If you are a dog owner staying here, it’s worth knowing, there is a village green located up the road from the house to exercise your dog (One of our dogs, always likes a walk first thing in the morning and last thing at night). You can access this via an alleyway in the top left hand corner of Tomouth Crescent or via Pitt Avenue. I think it’s been mentioned in a previous review but the house is set on a very steep hillside with limited access by car, wasn’t a problem for us but wouldn’t be ideal for someone with mobility issues.
Great base for exploring Appledore and the surrounding towns and beaches! Stroll down to the centre in 5 mins for pubs, ice cream or a spot of crabbing!
