Coucou Cottage lovely stylish cottage with private garden and a pool
Welcome to Coucou Cottage, a traditional French house over 300 years old. It has been renovated from top to bottom. We have tried to preserve the charm of this lovely cottage whilst ensuring you have all modern comforts. The cottage is located on the edge of the lovely medieval village of Thedirac. It has a private garden with countryside views including a swimming pool. You can enjoy spacious open plan living downstairs. A lounge with traditional fireplace opens on to a dining area and fully fitted kitchen. French doors open onto a private covered terrace with outdoor seating and dining area. You will also find a double bedroom downstairs and a family bathroom with a separate shower and bath plus a cloakroom with toilet. In the garden you will find a large terrace overlooking the swimming pool with six comfortable loungers and parasols. A table tennis table too. Coucou is located on top of a hill at the edge of the village so you have lovely views over the French countryside. A peaceful spot to watch the sun go down and admire the swallows as they dive in and out of the pool. At the bottom of the garden near to the pool there is a covered area housing a gas BBQ. and a charcoal one too. There is a washing machine provided for guests use, located off the entrance area. The local area has so much to offer. It is famous for great gastronomy, from foie gras to goats cheese, Ceps mushrooms and of course, the elusive truffle. Discover the delicious local wines, there are numerous vineyards throughout the Lot valley. You can do a winetasting tour starting only a fifteen minute drive away. There are markets on everywhere on every day of the week, where you can buy locally produced food and all sorts of other treats. There is a swimming lake only 10 minutes drive away complete with a beach. And so many castles, caves, old bastide towns in every direction.

Really lovely owners - very helpful. Nice little village with a boulangerie (and pizza van once a week which we used enthusiastically!). The house was perfect for our requirements (husband/ wife and adult sons and their girlfriends). It had everything we needed. The pool was lovely - particularly when 40 degs in week 1. And lots of trips out to various villages in the Lot and Dordogne. Highly recommend.

Hi Daryl, I have just realised that I did not respond to your lovely review. I am sorry. We loved meeting you all and it was great that you all had a fantastic time. We do hope you may come back some day.
We have been staying in villas in France for 18 years and have never found a property as wonderful as this before!
The house itself is perfect! Clean, beautifully decorated, with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is well stocked with a full range of utensils and lovely appliances.
The bedrooms are beautiful and all have fans with a fabulous bathroom each. There is also plenty of storage for your things.
The outside space is as beautiful and well thought out as the rest of the property. The beautiful pool and gardens with parasols for shade and sun loungers for relaxing are perfect for enjoying the views. There are plenty of spaces for family dining and fun but also little areas for privacy and some time to yourself.
The hosts are fantastically friendly and attentive but fully respectful of your privacy. They are dedicated to keeping the property clean and maintained for your stay and also on hand for advice and recommendations to ensure your holiday is the best it can be! Really lovely people!
Finally, the stunning location in this pretty town. The locals are so friendly and welcoming and there is so much to do and see. A lovely private and quiet place but close to any activity you would like: kayaking the Dordogne(an amazing day out), eating out in Cahors , swimming and water sports at the Green Lake, exploring the local towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are determined to return and stay with Rachel and Fred again soon!

About the host
Hosted by Rachel
I have been in this wonderful part of France for sixteen years. We have watched our children grow up here and we spend our time renovating properties. I love the beauty of the countryside here, the fascinating history and so many places to visit and discover, you often feel like you have gone back in time. You also have fantastic local food from fois gras to goats cheese, Ceps mushrooms and of course, the elusive truffle. Wines galore throughout the Lot valley , a fifteen minute drive away. I also run a small business offering property services and have been running gites and holiday homes since we arrived. I love meeting all the different guests and making sure they have a wonderful time here in the Lot.
Why they chose this property
Coucou is named for two reasons . In French Coucou means a friendly hello and also name for the little wildflower that is so joyful to see every Spring. This cottage is friendly, cheerful and cosy. You will enjoy stay here.
What makes this property unique
This cottage blends country with village life while still being private . It is close to all the main tourist attractions in the Lot and the Dordogne.
