In the magnificent Le Grand Massif ski domain in Haute-Savoie, snow conditions are optimal thanks to its location in the Pre-Alps, with Mont Blanc serving as a natural barrier.

For most of the season, you can access the ski slopes right next to the residence, skiing directly to the first ski lift. A free ski bus is also available, making it easy to start a sporty day amid snow-covered slopes and forests.

A good apartment in a great complex but it could be so much more…

Firstly, this is a great apartment in a thoroughly modern complex with brilliant facilities and a very good restaurant. However, check-in was a mess with no contact from the host and no details on how to enter the apartment. I had to call the VRBO helpdesk to get a number for the host which was inconvenient and long winded after a 9 hour drive. The apartment itself was a let down, really uncomfortable mattress in the main bedroom, no bed sheets or pillow covers and probably the worst pillows I’ve ever slept on. This stuff is so easy to get right but wasn’t deemed important enough by the host. There wasn’t even a bath mat. It just felt like they’d done the bare minimum to make this place habitable. To add insult to injury the batteries in the TV remote were flat so we couldn’t use the TV either. It all just pointed to a lack of care from the host and took the edge of what so easily could be a really nice apartment.
