Extremely peaceful cottage situated in over 16 acres of land, surrounded by the Galloway forest, waterfalls, several streams and it's own woodland. For walkers, the Doon valley trail and the Galloway forest trail is directly accessible from the cottage, which is perfect for walking/ hiking and off road cycling. Our stone built cottage has recently been modernised, but is around 400 years old with historic links to the McAdam family and General Cathcart. You won't find a quieter place in the UK! It is strongly advisable that access via the farm track is via 4x4 as although accessible by car, the track is pot-holed in many places and needs great care with driving, cottage access not suitable for those with impaired mobility. As is the case with large parts of Scotland, midges can be troublesome especially on dull, windless days in the summer months. Nivea Skin so soft appears to keep them at bay. It is also recommended that windows and doors are closed in the evenings over the peak season.

Not as advertised
The condition of the property is not as shown in the photos possibly due to building/upgrade works, and the washing machine was broken on arrival.
We unfortunately had to refuse the property once we arrived as it was not suitable for our needs and not as advertised.
If you enjoy being back to nature and adventure, without it being laid on for you, on prepaid glitzy white water, zip wiring and a Bike hiring theme park. Then this is the cottage for you. So peaceful and great Star lit nights with Acres of forest to explore. in summery one word, Perfect!
