About this property

Hut 37 at Cultybraggan Camp

Every building tells a story and this one certainly has a rich history! Hut 37 is one of five beautifully modernised and renovated Nissen huts that are part of the former Cultybraggan Prisoner of War Camp, just a mile outside the picturesque village of Comrie.

This hut accepts one well behaved dog. Cultybraggan have requested that dogs need to be on a lead at all times while on site and not allowed on sofas or beds

Nissen huts were commonly used in PoW camps across Britain during World War II. While they were only intended to be temporary, Cultybraggan Camp lived on after the war as a MOD training centre for more than 70 years. It’s now the last remaining Prisoner of War Camp in Scotland and has been named by Historic Scotland as a Unique Heritage Asset of International Value.

Thanks to the vision of the Comrie Development Trust, which now owns the camp, five Nissen huts have been transformed into spacious, sustainable and modern self-catering accommodation. They’re ideal whether you’re a keen history buff or simply want a truly unique stay in the Perthshire countryside.

While the huts retain their iconic external design, they’ve all been given a major facelift with a bright red roof, crisp white exterior front wall, and black door and window trim, providing an Insta-worthy contrast to the vivid greens of the surrounding Aberuchill Hills.

Inside, Hut 37 has been completely transformed with a spacious open plan living room, fully-equipped kitchen and dining space, full of natural light. Blond wooden floors, cream interior walls, pale furniture tones and the white cabinetry of the kitchen add to the sense of space and calm. There’s comfortable seating including a sofa bed and television for when it's time to relax, plus a dining table with seating for 4.

The separate bedroom contains a king size bed, and there’s also a modern separate bathroom with a shower.

Weekend at Cultybraggab
We had a fantastic weekend at Cultybraggan Camp. The nissen hut was very clean & spacious and was equipped with just about everything you could think of from kitchen scales, tupperware and measuring spoons to plenty of bedding & towels. The beds were comfortable, plenty of sockets, wifi was top quality and the place was very cosy with the extra heaters. Lovely area, great walk in the nearby community woodland. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

My stay
The hut was very clean and well stocked everything you could possibly need was there bedding was great heating great parking was really close my only disappointment was we didn’t get into the museum or the bunker which would have made the weekend perfect I know it’s out of season but still I think maybe open the museum for a couple of hours there was quiet a few guests when we were there so I think it would be worth while opening everything up cafe was amazing I know it’s work in progress so I will prob visit again in a couple of years just to see the diff there is so much that can be done with the site and I wish you all the success poss

Cosy warm hut in historical setting
We had lived in Comrie for two years in the 1980s but then Cultybraggan was still under military control. We had driven past many times but it was great to be able to stay there and walk around the former camp. The hut was so warm - bear in mind that temperatures dropped to -5C overnight and we were totally cosy. We weren't able to drive for three days because of the snow but there is a lovely walk from the camp along the river into the village of Comrie. The rooms were bigger than we expected.and we had all the facilities we could want. The oven took a bit of getting used to being combination microwave/convection oven. All in all we had a great time and our dog Murphy loved playing in the snow on the field.. Thank you.
