Modern 1 bedroom apartment recently re-refurbished ( 2022) and situated within a quiet and friendly neighbourhood. All the comforts of home are provided, including a smart TV in the lounge and a fully equipped kitchen. The beaches of Fortrose are a short walk from the house as well as Chanonry Lighthouse a popular spot for dolphin watching.

One of the best golf courses in Scotland is also a 5 minute walk away. The village of Fortrose offers all necessary local amenities including a shop, bakers, butchers, post office, chemist, gift shops as well as restaurants and cafes.

The bakhoos bakery is a must to visit for your morning coffee and freshly baked sourdough, croissants, pain au chocolate and cakes! Crofters Cafe in Rosemarkie is a great spot on the seafront for lunch, coffee , cake, ice cream.

Pluses and minuses

Property was clean, comfortable and handy for shops and pubs and local attractions. But - no allocated parking, had to search on the street. And just a hint - a simple guide to how to operate the TV and the stove would be useful.

Charming

We enjoyed our stay in the quaint, friendly village of Fortrose immensely. No the location was not in Inverness as originally stated. However, bus 26 or 26A gets you there and you can see the Highlands like a local. We walked/hiked north to Rosemarkie, looked for fairies in Fairy Glen, waterfalls, then down to the beach to visit sea caves. Jump back on the bus to Cromarty (end of the line), for the best cheese and bread on Black Isle.We did wish the place had some basic necessities like shampoo, conditioner, hot pan holder, coffee and tea but location and cleanliness makes up for missing items.
