Set within peaceful countryside with lovely gardens and views across to the sea. It is also within a short drive of both the Heritage coast and Durham city.. 1 step to entrance.

Enjoying an elevated position with lovely views out across open countryside towards the sea, The Old Byre has a truly relaxing feel. It is tucked away in a quiet country lane in High Haswell in rural County Durham. Starting life as a cow byre on a large working farm, the property has been transformed over the years to provide comfortable and homely accommodation with lots of space. All on one level and ideal for less mobile guests and plenty of room to move around. A lovely conservatory sits at the front of the house, looking out across the large garden to the sea beyond. This is the perfect spot to sit and unwind in with a book, enjoy a cup of tea or sit and relax and watch the sun go down.
There is a separate living area with comfortable sofas and chairs and Smart TV, two bedrooms, one with kingsize bed and en-suite shower room, the second bedroom with double bed and a separate family bathroom with large double shower. The spacious kitchen/dining room is a lovely place to sit and enjoy breakfast or supper and well equipped to cater for your stay. For those who enjoy walking or cycling, there are numerous established public footpaths and walks that lead direct from the door, and opportunity to explore the beautiful countryside and local villages. Located just a short drive from both the A19 and A1, and a short drive to the historic city of Durham with its famous cathedral, shops, cafés and restaurants and beautiful riverside walks. With a packed calendar of entertainment at any time of the year, the spectacular Lumiere Festival takes place every second November. There is also the annual book week, Durham Jazz Festival, an arts festival, a miners’ gala and many more free attractions, as well as the weekly farmers’ market.
This is the ideal rural base to stay at whilst visiting family at university. A little further afield, yet still within a short drive, is Beamish Museum, Barnard Castle, Bowes Museum and the scenic Durham Dales. The Durham Heritage Coast is just 8 miles away, with Seaham and its marina, promenade, restaurants and renowned fish and chips, enjoy the lovely beaches at Seaburn, Whitburn or Roker. If you’re a cricket fan, the top-class county cricket ground at Chester-le-Street Riverside is also only a 20-minute drive away. The cosmopolitan city of Newcastle, with shops, restaurants, theatre, and an abundance of attractions, is just 40 minutes by car. There is so much to see and do in the area however you may simply choose to come here to relax, unwind and enjoy the views!
