House was lovely and situated on a beautiful vineyard with amazing views. I would only add that we found a car was necessary for a week long stay. Orvieto was gorgeous in May and the region was open for wonderful adventures with a car. We loved our time and very relaxing.
This place is beautiful and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay.
The host was always available but never underfoot.
We stayed four days, I wish we could’ve stayed longer!
Our villa was exactly what had hoped for. It is located on a scenic hillside with views from every window. Whether walking the property, cooking in the incredible kitchen, or making pizza in the outdoor stone pizza oven, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank to our host Giulio for making us feel at home.
The description wasn't totally accurate. We found the property better than expected. We thought our stay was amazing. We can't believe we lucked upon it. So close to town yet very remote. The house is very clean, spacious and well provisioned (especially the kitchen). The hosts were wonderfully gracious. The winery tour was fantastic and it's history incredible. Absolutely loved our stay.

Thank you very much. It was a pleasure to meet you Rick, thanks again
We had a fantastic stay. The house was perfect for us. It had a bedroom downstairs so my mother did not have to climb steps. The set up was excellent for a mixed generation family. Plenty of room to spread out. The location was peaceful and had the added benefit of being able to walk around the vineyard/countryside.
The wine tasting and pasta making class was delicious and fun. Highly recommend! Guilio was an excellent and easy to reach host. Would definitely stay again! Thank you for a perfect
start to our vacation.
The house is very nice, the facilities were extensive, and the kitchen left nothing to be desired. The surroundings are beautiful and there are many opportunities for cycling (e-bike) and walking. Unfortunately, the description does not mention that the pool is quite a distance away and cannot simply be used from the house. But we enjoyed everything, including the wine.
This was truly a wonderful place to stay during our trip to Orvieto for our son's wedding. There were 3 couples and the villa was spacious enough that each couple had lots of private space. The beds were very comfortable and the villa was very clean. The house is secluded from the winery itself (about 1/2 a mile away) so we felt like we were on our own property. It provided a perfect escape from city life. The host, Guilio, was terrific! He was friendly and very helpful. Don't miss the wine tour of the property's family-run winery. It was top notch! Guilio also helped us arrange for a chef to make us a dinner at the villa. This was one of the highlights of our stay. Marta cooked us an amazing meal and she did everything from cooking to cleaning up and putting food away! There is lots to do in Orvieto. Highlights for us were the Old Town underground tour, the cathedral, and the well. We did an all day ebike tour from Orvieto to Civita (called the dying town) and it was wonderful!! Highly recommended. I would not hesitate to stay at Casa Belvedere and explore Orvieto some more. One of our favorite trips ever!
Loved our stay (6 nights in late November — Thanksgiving week). There were 8 of us, and there was plenty of room — huge living room, great (also huge) kitchen, nice bedrooms. Giulio was super responsive any time we had an issue, and at our suggestion is going to write up some house instructions. We had a beautiful fire in one of the fireplaces. The winery is a nice tour, and as noted by another reviewer, the wine is quite decent. We loved being surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Seems to be plenty of outdoor space if one were there in warmer weather. Pool isn’t right outside the door, you have to walk a bit (5-10 mins?) but it looks quite nice. We spent time getting to know Orvieto, which is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy (not bombed during the war, incredible duomo and perfect little streets and alleys). Oh, and the WiFi is terrific.
The location is peaceful and rural, the house was perfect for us - 4 adults and 3 boys - lots of personal space. Coffee outside in the early AM right out of a movie. The kitchen was well equipped. Take notes on running the dishwasher and washing machine unless you are knowledgeable about European appliances. Ask for 2 lighter sticks for the stove. We cooked and enjoyed 2 memorable dinners. Their wine was a real taste treat, had we not been so crammed into our vehicle we would have bought it for the road. We explored Orvieto, Civita di Bagnaturo, Cascate del Mulino in Saturnia, Montepulciano and Siena - all great experiences for each of us. Our only regret is not being closer to the large, refreshing crystal clear swimming pool for evening swims. If the world is perfect we will return.

The house needs some love & sprucing up
The property was clean, with comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen. The host was very responsive to questions. Over all it was a rather basic experience. There wasn’t a welcome book describing the area, house or closing process. It was extremely hot when we arrived, it is an older house thus no air conditioning which we were aware of but there were no fans. Once I called the host he came and took the fans out which we distributed around the house. The listing stated the pool was a 10 min walk from the house it was a kilometre away, which was longer than a 10 min walk which was disappointing for the kids. We were responsible for disposing of the garbage which was 2 kilometres away. The house could use some sprucing up, the living room furniture was uncomfortable for sitting and covered with a variety of different sheets. The high light of our trip was to have the chef Marta cook dinner for us one evening, a lovely person and great cook - highly recommend the experience. Unfortunately the wine tasting sessions were booked so we weren’t able to experience the wine, we were surprised that since we were renting the house they couldn’t accommodate us.
The house: a generously proportioned old stone house with plenty of charm. Thanks to the thick stone walls, it kept reasonably cool during the recent heatwave. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces, and the house is surrounded by greenery, trees, and the vineyard. There are wild figs growing nearby, and we spotted quite a few animals at dusk and dawn (foxes, a hoopoe, bats, deer, etc.). As it's located on top of one of Umbria's famous tuff hills, it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. I particularly liked the road, with imposing stone pines lining up on either side leading up to the house. The pool is huge; we had it almost always to ourselves.
The surroundings: Orvieto is surprisingly attractive; we visited the Duomo, the St. Patrick's Well, the underground Etruscan city, and enjoyed the many excellent restaurants. (Watch the YouTube clip from Rick Steve; he also does one on the winery nearby.) Orvieto is perfect for day trips to Rome, Assisi, Lago di Bolsena, Terme di Saturnia, Lago Trasimenio, and, an absolute highlight, Marmore Waterfalls, where we also did some whitewater rafting in the river Nera.
Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and super responsive to all of our questions. It's very convenient that they are close by at the winery and there when you need help, but otherwise you have the huge space and surrounding area entirely to yourself. I would also recommend going to a wine tasting; the quality is superb and very affordable
I can not say enough positive things about both this beautiful house and our host, Giulio.
At Belvedere, which the house is aptly named, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel completely at home. We stayed for one month and fully utilized everything this amazing place has to offer.
We comfortably had ten people under our roof at any given time and yet it never felt overcrowded. The 5 bedrooms and 4 baths were well laid out and very comfortable. We enjoyed trips into stunning Orvieto (a 10-15 minute drive) and the many other towns within a short drive from the house, but at the end of the day we could not wait to get back to Belvedere to make group dinners together in the expansive kitchen. We enjoyed many meals or our morning coffee at the tables outside, as well as in the beautiful dining room inside the house that seats ten.
The various living areas were perfect for relaxing on lazy summer mornings or playing cards and talking late into the night.
We made full use of the beautiful pool and the ten minute walk to get there along the private country road became an afternoon ritual.
If you are lucky enough to stay here, be sure you book a wine tasting through Giulio at their winery on the property. It was a highlight of our visit and for all of our guests as well. We also highly recommend wonderful Marta, who offers cooking classes at the house as well as amazing catered dinners.
Grazie per una vacanza indimenticabile! Spero di tornare di nuovo...
