This charming converted monastery nestles in the hillside hamlet of San Pietro a Marcigliano, not far north of the city of Lucca. In the centuries it has become the main building of the estate surrounded by many ancient buildings as barns and houses for the workers. The setting is incomparable and the views are wonderful. This is a hidden part of Tuscany, timeless, unchanging and away from the tourist track. The Monastery was built about 1550 and has been owned by our family since 1792. It has been converted to a family home while retaining the vital architectural integrity of the original buildings. Around the monastery is the property where olive trees and wine yards are the main cultures. We produce olive oil and an excellent wine; the old cave is just on the ground floor of the main building. The countryside offers many opportunities of discovering very nice places with little medieval churches or old farmhouses. Behind the buildings are woods with many opportunities for walks or mountain biking.
