About this property

Villa Il Cipresso - view and pool

This elegantly converted family house is about the size of a large apartment and can host 2 to 6 people with ease. All the rooms are bright, spacious and comfortable, with beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, marvellous furniture. The private garden overlooking the swimming pool and panormaic on Lucca city it is a perfect setting for tea, cocktails, dinners with friends or simply enjoying the sunset while reading a book.

Inside the accommodation comprises:

- Large openspace living room with big sofa, fireplace and TV, Large dining area and fully equipped kitchen

- Three large double bedrooms

- Three new and large bathrooms all with showers

This charming converted monastery nestles in the hillside hamlet of San Pietro a Marcigliano, not far north of the city of Lucca. In the centuries it has become the main building of the estate surrounded by many ancient buildings as barns and houses for the workers. The setting is incomparable and the views are wonderful. This is a hidden part of Tuscany, timeless, unchanging and away from the tourist track. The Monastery was built about 1550 and has been owned by our family since 1792. It has been converted to a family home while retaining the vital architectural integrity of the original buildings. Around the monastery is the property where olive trees and wine yards are the main cultures. We produce olive oil and an excellent wine; the old cave is just on the ground floor of the main building. The countryside offers many opportunities of discovering very nice places with little medieval churches or old farmhouses. Behind the buildings are woods with many opportunities for walks or mountain biking.

Great place to stay
Clean and modern and worth the drive up the hills although the road was a bit tight for 2 cars! Maureen was easy to work with and the place was great to stay in. Loved the pool, too!

We had a nice holiday in your house. All are very well - only the lying chairs with cushions are not in a acceptabel condition. Best regards

Die Aussicht und Ausstattung war hervorragend
Das Objekt lag etwas sehr abseits und war nicht einfach zu finden , da das Objekt hinter Kirche auf dem Berg versteckt war !

Stunning Views overTuscany
The former monastery is a beautiful, bucolic spot, but it is truly a 25 minute drive to Lucca; a car is essential, as is planning for gas and groceries. We would have been wise to think of this as a country retreat rather than an accessible way to enjoy the walled city. Maureen, the property manager is kind, helpful and quick to respond. The three bedrooms and bathrooms are all pleasant; the kitchen is minimally but sufficiently stocked. For a quiet getaway, especially in the summer when a pool is a treat, we would all stay there again without hesitation.
