We love this apartment and have stayed in it many times over the years.
We love this apartment and have stayed in it many times over the years. I wish it was mine!! It’s absolutely ideally situated close to the embankment, just one street back, has a limited view of the river between two other old buildings but the gap is plenty big enough to see the masts of yachts sailing by plus the odd bigger boats coming into dock, and a lovely view of Kingswear. The balcony is small but has a cafe table and chairs perfect for warm weather breakfasts etc. The accomodation is fine for four, if it were my place I’d probably add a large two tier steamer to the kitchen equipment so there was a pot big enough to do pasta in, and a large wok with a lid big enough to make enough curry or bolognese for four hungry people, but otherwise there’s everything you need to rustle up meals for the family. Dartmouth is a real foodie place so you may well end up eating out a lot of the time as we did. There’s also an M and S Food a short walk away plus a good Co-op minutes down the road so you need never run out of wine! It’s always very clean here, has books and games, good wifi, extra tv channels and a dishwasher etc. Beds are comfy, towels are perfectly white, heating is very efficient. We never ran out of hot water! On the downside, there has been remedial work going on in the entrance hall for a while now, hopefully this will soon be completed but it’s worth noting that this doesn’t affect the actual apartment at all, everything was clean and tidy when we stayed so it didn’t really bother us thankfully. Finally, parking, which in Dartmouth is always a challenge. We find it easier to pull up outside number 10, someone bails out and gets the key from the keysafe, opens up the flat and gets the parking permit from the hall table, then chucks the bags into the hall and the driver goes off with the permit and parks the car in Mayor’s Avenue carpark. You can walk everywhere in Dartmouth, or take a ferry, train, bus to wherever if you want to abandon your car for the week as we often do. Sorry for all the detail, I just wanted to leave a good, honest, comprehensive review of this lovely place to stay.
