Adjoining the owner’s listed thatched 17th Century thatched farmhouse, The Stables is ideally located for easy access to all that East Devon and beyond has to offer including Exeter, just over 5 miles away, the beautiful Jurassic Coast, numerous seaside towns and many activities and attractions.
The property is on one level and offers a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with a bath and overhead electric shower. A light and spacious open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area offers access to a private courtyard and seating area which doubles up as a secure storage area for bicycles. The fitted kitchen area has everything you would expect and for days in, there are plenty of games, books and even a library of VHS tapes & DVDs. In addition to the courtyard, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the separate large lawned garden. There is also a hard surfaced tennis court which is available is for your use (please make sure you wear the appropriate shoes - no flip flops!). The summer house contains a selection of tennis rackets & balls as well as some badminton rackets. There are lovely far reaching rural views, various seating areas including a ‘secret’ area where you can sit and enjoy the uninterrupted views in peace with a book or a drink in hand. There is parking directly outside the property for two cars and, if required, a washing machine is accessible upon request.
East Devon is ideal for the serious hiker and the less energetic walker alike as there are numerous paths to be discovered following the coasts and estuaries such as those at Budleigh Salterton and Topsham and commons such as Woodbury and Aylesbeare. Just 5 minutes away by car is WestPoint - The Devon County Showground and the excellent Park and Ride for Exeter and Crealy Adventure Park. Close by are numerous quality golf courses such as those at Woodbury Park, Exeter, East Devon at Budleigh Salterton and Dawlish Warren. If gardens are your thing, then there’s Bicton, Pecorama, Killerton, Knightshayes & Escot Park. On top of the wonderful coastal beaches, there are a choice of swimming pools at Sidmouth, Exeter, Exmouth, Whimple and Topsham. Theatres and music venues, arts and crafts exhibitions and outlets and museums of all sorts make this a truly cultural area.
There are also many good pubs and excellent dining establishments to seek out, some just 5 minutes away by car. Exeter and the surrounding area have a wealth of cycle ways, many miles can be travelled without using main roads and if you fancy more open spaces then the top of Dartmoor National Park is just 16 miles or so to the west – here you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape!
