About the host
Hosted by Anthea Andrew Christine Jago
We are both retired and look forward to the more relaxed pace of life Devon offers. We chose Sidmouth as the perfect place for our holiday home by the sea, having holidayed here for many years when our children were younger.
Why they chose this property
Our children now grown up with children of their own remember very fondly Sidmouth holidays. Therefore it seemed the obvious choice for a holiday home. We love Sidmouth with its elegant seafront and beaches. We love our sunny house with its location adjacent to The Byes. In 2 minutes we are walking by running water or off for a picnic. The Sid Vale Association, the first Civic Society in Britain founded in1846 in Sidmouth has sought to preserve the towns unique character and heritage. There is a great choice of shops, eateries of all kinds beautiful garden to admire and interesting walks abound. It is surrounded by the East Devon Area of Outstanding A little further afield the Jurassic coast offers walking and exploring opportunities while the city of Exeter offers retail therapy. Sidmouth is easily accessed from M4. The theatre, local events and societies are numerous which give all year round appeal.
What makes this property unique
Byes View is an attractive terrace house built around 1906, in a quite residential area. It is adjacent to and overlooks The Byes a great location for families and pet owners. A 2 minute walk brings you into this is a huge long park that runs from Sidmouth to Sidbury 2km alongside the River Sid, and owned by the National Trust. It is an 8-10minute walk through The Byes to the beach. If it is the shops you require then a 5 minute walk brings you into the town. The rear garden is a suntrap all day, while the bench in the front garden is great for morning coffee. We have all enjoyed making Byes View our home from home by the sea. We all thought what was important for a relaxing and happy holiday and each suggestion has been carefully incorporated.
