About this property
Railway carriage - perfect for families, friends or couples in a perfect location
Wannies Retreat is in the heart of Northumberland offering a stay in a beautiful converted railway van measuring 18.5m long! We have a viewing platform to admire the official amazing dark skies and a hot tub to relax in as well as secure bike storage and a drying room, after a walk or cycle ride in the lovely Northumberland countryside. A BBQ and fire pit to enjoy our own produce for a night time feast or a locally sourced breakfast hamper will be available to purchase. Adventure, relaxation or romance? Your choice?
We are the perfect spot for a special occasion!
You don't see many trains in the Northumberland countryside, well not now! Our train sits on the old Wannies railway line which ran through our farm 60 years ago. You will have total seclusion in your own space. No onlookers, unless you count the sheep and lambs. Our viewing platform shows our official dark skies at night and the mountains of the Scottish Borders during the day. Complimentary binoculars, kids packs and hotel chocolat velvetiser even a telescope.
Guests will have access to their own space with nobody else around. You will also be able to walk the old Wannie Line on our farm (not open to the public) to take a walk to 2 local pubs (one offering our guests 10% discount)
We are a working farm and we would love to show you the animals should you wish to see them but you would need to arrange this with me. We have cows with newly born calves in February/March and we start lambing in the beginning of April. I have 2 children who play around the farm but would not be anywhere near you during your stay (unless of course you wanted your children entertained for a while!) We really are the holiday with a difference and whilst we are in a beautiful private location we have so much to see and do on our doorstep - Kielder, watersports, market towns, National Trust sites, Michelin star restaurant, golf and amazing walks.
