About this property

Lionsgate View, luxury apartment right opposite Alnwick Castle

Arguably one of the best self-catering holiday cottage properties in Alnwick, Lionsgate View provides the very best in luxurious accommodation and certainly has the wow factor! Situated on the middle (first) floor of a Grade 2 listed townhouse, it is away from the hustle and bustle of the town, yet within easy reach of everything Alnwick has to offer.

This romantic, historic apartment is literally metres from Alnwick Castle, with absolutely stunning views from the lounge and bedroom of the Barbican, the turrets and the famous statues featured in Harry Potter, and the Philosopher’s Stone where the Quidditch lesson is taking place.

This romantic retreat is perfect for two and ideally placed for exploring the town, the castle and, indeed, the whole of Northumberland. Just a few minutes' walk into the centre of town, everything is on the doorstep, yet because it is not on the main streets, the apartment is very quiet and peaceful.

This one-bedroom luxury apartment, with a spacious lounge / diner and bedroom, is flooded with natural light and is extremely comfortable. Completely and sympathetically refurbished to the highest standard, the apartment combines modern contemporary living with traditional period features and is warmed with full gas central heating throughout.

A travel cot and high chair are available upon request for infants.

The entrance to the apartment is initially through the front door of the building up four steep steps from the street. The front door to Lionsgate View is up two short internal flights of stairs.

The lounge has a deep comfortable sofa, complemented by stylish full length curtains and luxurious carpets. The lounge also has indirect lighting. The fully refurbished contemporary kitchen makes excellent and clever use of space. The worktops are solid quartz with under bench and plinth lighting, dishwasher, washer / dryer, induction hob, electric oven, integrated microwave, fridge, Tassimo coffee maker (with an initial supply of pods), toaster and digital radio with Bluetooth docking.

Bedroom
This beautifully decorated room has a king-size bed. The room boasts stunning views of the castle's barbican, and there is also a window seat from which to watch the world go by. Leaholme Cottages is a small family-run business, passionate about sharing the delights of our local Northumberland with those who are looking for luxurious holiday accommodation. Lynn is a true Northumbrian, whereas Pete moved to the North-East 25 years ago and has never looked back! We holidayed in Newton many years ago when our daughter was a baby, and loved it so much we went again and again. A few years later we were lucky enough to have the chance to buy Leaholme Cottage where we had stayed several times, and this is how our holiday cottage business was born. Now we can offer our guests, many of who return year after year, a choice of exceptional properties around Alnwick and the stunning Northumberland Coast.

Why they chose this property

Alnwick is a bustling town, steeped in history but with a range of modern services, which is regularly nominated as one of the best places to live in the UK. It is the perfect base for exploring the history and natural wonders of Northumberland, whether the coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or the Northumberland National Park inland.

What makes this property unique

The view from the lounge is just AMAZING! Although the property is central to Alnwick, once inside it is calm and peaceful, a perfect bolthole for a couple.
