Full of character
This is a great property with loads of character and staying here is a real traditional Highlands experience. It comfortably accommodates the maximum capacity and the kitchen is large and well equipped.
The only slight drawback was that some of the mattresses could perhaps do with replacing and ideally there would be another walk in shower - although equally having the traditional baths was good.
The location is good - a bit of a drive to most places but then you expect that in this area and the remoteness is part of the appeal.
If you can fill it, the property is also very good value (although it may be somewhat less so if you visit in winter due to the electricity costs)
Large, grand old hunting lodge in a beautiful setting.
Rural setting in the Highlands with walking access to the mountains, wildlife and opportunities for tradition sports.
Easy access by car to many Munro's, Corbetts, fine restaurants and coastal scenery.
Great choice for a large group.

Thank you very much. We love staying at Glencarron Lodge too. Kate
Regal yet family friendly! Something for everyone.
My 5 year old granddaughter learned to fly fish.
We all hiked. The baby learned to crawl up 3 flights of thickly carpeted stairs (supervised of course). So many wonderful sites to see and explore. Food and locals were amazing. Terrific family vacation!

Dear Judi,
Thank you very much for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so well. They very much enjoyed having you at Glencarron Lodge.
Kind regards, Kate
We had a great week at Glencarron Lodge. 12 adults, 4 kids, more than enough space for everyone. Well equipped kitchen, large dining room, and living room(s) made for a very pleasant stay. We enjoyed the table tennis in the basement as well.
The location is perfect for exploring this beautiful part of Scotland: easy to drive to Skye, or to Torridon for hillwalking, or just head into the hills directly behind Glencarron lodge for a great day out.
Just the job for a highland holiday. We squeezed in lots of cycling, walking, visits to the coast, golf and more. Both coasts are within reach which is great in that the W coast is so dramatic and the E coast has world class golf.
The Lodge itself is exactly as described - big, nice bedrooms, bathrooms are fine, well appointed kitchen, cosy sitting room, characterful and well set up dining room.
Only qualifiers - wifi was pretty hit or miss, although didn't cause any issues as 4g reception was good, and our group of 20 had to stagger hot water use a little.
Would highly recommend and revisit in a heartbeat.

Thank you for your lovely reveiw. The staff enjoyed having you too. The WIFI is supposed to be BT Broadband and we are supposed to be getting fibre optics sometime soon but we use 4g very successfully. I will look into why the hot water was a problem. We usually have oodles of it even when we fill the house.
The Highlands in style!
So, if you wanna go back to the time when people spent their holidays in style, this is for you! 4 storey house with table tennis, snooker and dart in the basement, drawing room, dinner hall (the stag room) and kitchen on ground floor, then 2 storeys with bedrooms for 20 people. Like 9 bathtubs and bathrooms. You can fish salmon and trouts in the waters on the estate. Staghunting, my doughter shot a 82 kg beast. Close to interesting places like Loch Ness, Skye, Applecross. BUT ther very best, the people! So nice and professional! Matthew, the caretaker very soon become our best friend! We will go back annually!

A great place for a holiday
A comfortable house in an excellent position for hillwalking (being on a main road is, surprise to say, ideal), bur also for Gairloch beaches, Inverewe and Attadale Gardens and Plockton. Splendid dining room with wonderful view, real fire in the drawing room, plentiful hot water.
mooi huis. leuk voor een grote groep. veel ruimte om te verblijven en om te eten. huis is in prima staat maar allemaal wel een beetje ouderwets / authentiek. gezellig geheel.
