Enjoy a day trip to Palmela, a village steeped in history and take in the breathtaking views from the turrets of the 12th century castle. Further afield nestling amongst the vineyards and cork trees you will find the charming town of Azeitao. For wine lovers a visit to the 16th Quinta da Bacaolha is a must.

Take a tour of the Palace to see the fine example of the traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles and enjoy a tour of the cellars (and of course a wine tasting!) Don’t forget to try the infamous creamy sheep’s cheese “Queijo do Azeitao”.

For nature lovers from here you can explore the wonderous Arrabida Natural Park with its abundance of wildlife and great tracks for trekking or mountain biking. Here you will also find some of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, with stunning white sand and crystal clear waters. Head to Pontinha do Arrabida for lunch at one of the waterside restaurants where freshly caught grilled fish is a must.
