Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: Port Isaac is a true Cornish treasure. The old village in the valley, a beautiful fishing village nestled in a steep sided valley, has remained unchanged since its days of fishing, slate export, and smuggling in the previous century. There are numerous small character properties, as well as larger cliff-top retreats, with easy access to the village's numerous restaurants and shops. As the tide recedes, the sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools. There is plenty of parking at the top of the village, and it is a popular tourist destination with many attractions such as the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay, and the famous Doc Martin's clinic.
