Living Spaces Crafted for Comfort
As you step inside, a spacious lounge awaits, adorned with a smart TV and a crackling woodburning stove, casting its warm glow across the room. Generous windows drench the interiors in soft natural light, setting a tranquil tone for your stay.

Slumber in Style
Your nights promise serenity. Our master bedroom boasts a plush king-size bed, designed to whisk you away into dreamy slumbers. A double bed graces another room, while the third offers two single beds. For those needing additional space, our games room features a cozy futon.

A Culinary Heartbeat
The heart of any home lies in its kitchen. Ours stands out with a traditional AGA cooker, beckoning culinary enthusiasts to weave their gastronomic magic. Paired with modern amenities, every meal becomes an occasion.

Indulgence & Entertainment
Our games room emerges as the perfect antidote to a rainy day. Dive into its treasure trove of board games, lose yourself in captivating reads, or go digital with a PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and a retro arcade machine teeming with over 3000 classics. Yet, the true jewel remains the breathtaking 30-mile Exmoor views, best enjoyed while unwinding in our 7-seater jacuzzi.

Outdoor Euphoria
Step outside, and our property unfolds its magic. From the lush private garden to a large trampoline, and a fairy-lit treehouse, every corner promises delight. The expansive fields, home to our friendly sheep, invite leisurely strolls or even a spontaneous picnic.

Prime Location with a Hint of History
History buffs will revel in the knowledge that our home once played host to a music festival by Hawkwind. While history adorns every nook, our location seals the deal. We're a stone's throw from a picturesque golf course and just 1.5 miles from the quintessential village of High Bickington.

Environmental Thoughtfulness
For our eco-conscious guests, we offer an electric vehicle charging station, ensuring your green rides remain juiced up for your Devon explorations.

A Pet’s Paradise
We understand that pets are family. Thus, we warmly welcome up to two dogs, ensuring they, too, enjoy a slice of Devon's beauty. All we ask is for a gentle reminder to our four-legged friends to respect our resident sheep.

In essence, our hideaway promises more than just a stay. It's an experience, a journey through time, luxury, and unparalleled beauty. Whether you're a couple seeking romance, a group chasing adventure, or a family desiring quality time, our Devon abode crafts memories that linger.

Family Christmas
Just got home from a fab time in this beautiful cottage. Owners Nathen and Helen so friendly and made us all feel so welcome. The cottage has everything and more you need for your stay. Christmas tree and decs were beautiful and the home made scones melt in your mouth 😋😋. From the beautiful decorated cottage, really comfy beds, amazing views from hot tub too. Dogs enjoyed their stay and cooking on a Aga for first time with tips, and guides given we had a perfect Christmas roast. I could of stayed longer, truly relaxing time. 😁

The perfect local escape
Five of us came here from Exeter for a relaxing break before the school holidays finished and we all had to go back to work. We wanted somewhere cosy to play board games by a fire but with enough space that we could spread out and do our own things during the day. Stairway to Devon gave us all these things and threw in a brilliant hot tub as well! Helen and Nathan were fantastic hosts, making sure we had everything we needed including information on how to cook with an Aga (we got the hang of it). As we left one of our cars wouldn’t start and they were incredibly kind and got help from a neighbour who helped jump start the car so we could be on our way. Highly recommend for some quiet time away at any time of the year - even if the weather is bad there’s plenty to do! Thank you Helen and Nathan!

Awesome place
Awesome place. Wonderful hosts. The house is very well equipped. Easily the best place we have stayed at. The hot tub, fire-pit, arcade and popcorn machine were all big hits. We loved it.

Everything we could ever need
We had such a lovely stay at 'Stairway to Devon'. Nathan and Helen were very welcoming, with a few ciders and scones ready for our arrival. The house was beautifully presented and had everything we could possibly dream of. The games room kept the children (2-7 year old) totally entertained and the adults loved it too. Little touches like the popcorn machine and corns to pop and the ninja blender for some yummy cocktails made it a wonderful stay and far and above any house stay I have experienced before. As with any British holiday, you run a risk of having bad weather and unfortunately we had a lot of rain but with the hot tub and endless things to do in the house our spirits couldn't be dampened, despite the rain's best efforts! Thank you again, you have thought of everything!!!

Hello! We're the Bliss family, we're originally from Cambridgeshire. We love living here in Devon and there is nothing better than sharing our ten acres of countryside with guests.

Why they chose this property

The area around Barn End Cottage is a delight for the senses. You can admire the rolling hills, the green fields, and the blue sky. You can hear the birds singing, the sheep bleating, and the wind rustling. You can smell the fresh air, the flowers, and the wood smoke. You can feel the warmth of the sun, the breeze on your skin, and the soft grass under your feet. You can taste the local produce, the honey, and the cider. What I enjoy most about the area is the variety of things to do and see. You can visit some of the UK’s best beaches, such as Woolacombe, Croyde, and Saunton. You can go hiking or cycling in Dartmoor or Exmoor, where you can discover wild landscapes and ancient monuments. You can explore charming villages, historic towns, and cultural attractions. You can also relax and unwind in Barn End Cottage, where you can enjoy the cozy atmosphere, the wood-burning stove, and the treehouse. There is something for everyone in this area, whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation. It is a place where you can reconnect with nature, with yourself, and with your loved ones.

What makes this property unique

What makes Barn End Cottage stand out from the rest is its unique history and character. This cottage was once the home and recording studio of Hawkwind, the legendary space rock band. Here they created some of their most psychedelic sounds and albums in the 1970s. You can still feel the creative vibe and the rock ‘n’ roll spirit in this cottage. Barn End Cottage is also a cozy and comfortable holiday home that has been lovingly restored and renovated. It has a rustic charm and a stylish flair. It has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay, such as a fully equipped kitchen, a wood-burning stove, and electric vehicle charging facilities. Barn End Cottage also has a stunning garden, where you can have fun and admire the views. The garden features a huge treehouse that is part of an ancient oak tree. It also has a trampoline for the kids (or the young at heart) to enjoy. Barn End Cottage is a holiday home that offers something different and memorable. It is a place where you can experience the magic of music, nature, and history.
