The Hydings is set over three floors and is accessed by foot through a little narrow yard, making this a peaceful hideaway. Stepping inside into the entrance hallway you have a spacious ground floor bedroom with a king bed where you are assured a restful night’s sleep, as well the family bathroom also on this level. Whitby has a host of attractions drawing guests back year after year. This town was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and there is a dark side of Whitby with ghost walks to both fright and delight. The wonderful Goth Festival takes place twice a year and keep an eye out for other festivals such as the Folk Festival, Whitby Regatta and the Steam Punk Weekend. With many award-winning restaurants, olde worlde pubs and tea rooms, a colourful harbour, an iconic Abbey and a glorious long golden beach, this is a great place for all interests and ages.
The unspoilt fishing village of Staithes, 10 miles away, nestles into the cliffs of the Heritage Coast and is just one of the nearby hidden beaches to explore. Other hidden gems include Runswick Bay, Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Robin Hood’s Bay, each has its own story of pirates and smuggling to tell.
