Piana about 4 km from Castiglione Del Lago, 1st floor of a farmhouse, immersed in the quiet and greenery of nature.
The location, on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, is the ideal location for visiting the wonderful towns and cities of art that can be reached by car in a short time such as Città della Pieve, Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto, Orvieto, Pienza, Montepulciano, Siena, Arezzo ,etc.
In Castiglione del Lago there is the railway station of the Rome - Florence line which allows you to easily reach both cities. Perugia Airport is 45 km away.
For those who love movement and physical activity, the area is ideal for walking, running, cycling directly from home. You can reach, at about 800 meters, the cycle path that runs entirely around the lake in a beautiful route surrounded by nature and crossing various villages along the way. If you don't have one, bikes can be rented in Castiglione.
A short distance away there are stables that organize horse rides.
The lake also offers various opportunities, from beaches equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs where it is also possible to rent canoes, surfboards and pedal boats, to local bars, restaurants and discos.
At the center of the lake there are 3 islands, 2 of which can be visited, the Maggiore and the Polvese.
Isola Maggiore is one of the three natural islands of Lake Trasimeno, it has a surface of 24 hectares, therefore relatively small.
The town still retains the atmosphere of a 15th century fishing village. In past centuries fishing was in fact the main source of subsistence on the island. A dense network of paths runs through it, unraveling through a variety of Mediterranean plants. Although the name is misleading, the island is not the largest in the lake, in fact, in decreasing order of surface area, we first find Polvese, then Maggiore and finally Minore.
The peculiarity of the island is the handicraft production of small quantities of Irish lace, a particular processing of lace made with crochet: the beginning of this activity dates back to 1904, when the Marquise Elena Guglielmi had a teacher arrive directly from Ireland who taught the technique to the women of the island.
The Polvese island is instead particularly interesting from a landscape point of view, it is part of the Natural Park of Lake Trasimeno.
Both islands are connected to the mainland by a frequent ferry service from the towns of Castiglione del Lago, Tuoro and Passignano.
Furthermore, within a few km, there are several excellent wine tasting tours, you can visit cellars and organize wine tours.
Not least several important farms where you can eat, have tastings or simply buy production products.
At 1 km, in the small center of Piana, there is a supermarket/tobacconist while in Castiglione del Lago there are 5 supermarkets and shops selling excellent local products as well as all the services (banks/post office/pharmacy...)
Enjoy the quiet while having fun!
