About this property
Beautiful Home with Pool Overlooking Camel Estuary
Summary:
This substantial coastal home for 10 is special both on the inside and out. You’re adjacent to St Enodoc golf course, around 150 yards from Rock Beach, in an elevated position with views across the Camel Estuary and Padstow. Enjoy views of the sea from almost every room, as well as from the comfort of your spacious garden and heated outdoor pool. It’s hard to pull yourself away from this corner of paradise, but with so much on your doorstep, you’re in for a coastal getaway to remember.
The Space:
With a heated outdoor swimming pool, a sun-drenched garden and stunning views that sweep over the Camel Estuary and over to Padstow, it’s hard to find a home that rivals Speedwell. Nestled away on a quiet, leafy lane on the outskirts of Rock, this substantial country home for 10 is perfect for getaways with family or friends. You’re a 10-minute walk to the centre of Rock, one of Cornwall’s most stylish villages. Enjoy sunny days on the beach, pick up freshly baked pasties and drink rosè on pub terraces. There’s also a ferry that runs directly over to Padstow for an afternoon of exploring.
Back home, feel instantly welcomed as soon as you step through the front door. Light and bright rooms are complemented beautifully with calming woods, whilst pops of yellow and blue are a subtle nod to the idyllic coastal surroundings. The house spans three storeys so there’s ample space for 10 guests to stretch out and relax. The ground floor has an open-plan farmhouse kitchen and dining room with large bi-folding doors that lead straight onto the patio where you'll find picnic bench seating. Next door, find a cosy living room that’s perfect for hunkering down when the weather turns. Plus, a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom is just along the corridor, as well as a separate bathroom with shower.
Up on the first floor, there are two king bedrooms, one with an en-suite and tranquil sea views, as well as two twin bedrooms. The fun doesn’t stop with the outdoor pool as, down in the basement, you’ll find a games room with a pool table, bean bags and TV. From here, fling open the windows and head out into the garden where you can enjoy long lazy days swimming in your private pool, reading amongst nature and whiling away hours over lunch. There’s so much to explore right from the doorstep - go bike riding along the Camel Trail, browse galleries in Padstow and set off on embracing hikes along the coastline. Speedwell really is a holiday home like no other.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole property, garden and heated outdoor pool.
The Neighborhood:
Speedwell is located on a quiet, rural road just 150 yards from Rock Beachfront. It backs St Enodoc golf course, with pretty views over the Camel Estuary and towards Padstow. You’re perfectly situated to enjoy much of the local area on foot - the beach and village are just a 10-minute walk down the hill. Plus, ample footpaths in the local area take you towards Daymer Bay and the rolling surf of nearby Polzeath.
Rock is known as one of Cornwall’s most stylish villages, located on the northeastern bank of the River Camel and opposite Padstow. You can reach this picturesque harbour town via ferry, which leaves every 20 minutes from Rock Beach. Rock itself has a number of great amenities, including a gallery, convenience store, ice cream shop, cafès, pubs and restaurants. The real draw is the array of water sports on offer, including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling.
There are tons to explore in the local area too. From pumping surf at Polzeath to cycling the Camel Trail, enjoying beach days at Constantine Bay or walking the famous South West Coastal Path. Find more local tips and tricks in our Guest Guide, which is available upon booking.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, a car is advised for your stay. That said, the house is conveniently located so you can explore much of the surrounding area by foot. Rock village is just a ten-minute walk, you can head over to Padstow by ferry and cycle much of the Camel Trail.
Other Things to Note:
Please note: The swimming pool is unguarded and is available from May half-term to September inclusive. It is NOT heated throughout the winter.
