The gentle sea breeze echoes through this vibrant, charming, detached cottage. Enjoy unspoiled elevated views across Torbay - from the rock-walled patio, the living space, and the king-size bedroom with its own generously-sized, covered balcony. Styled in calm, refreshing shades, and with Smart TVs in all rooms, up to 6 can stay in the three double bedrooms. There’s parking for one car (plus a permit for the nearby car park). 1 large dog or 2 small to medium size dogs are welcome. No stag or hen parties. Please note that there are several wide and gradual steps you will encounter from the car park to the front door so this property is may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues but is easily accessible if aided.The SpaceThe moment you step inside The Boathouse, you’ll be captivated by the refreshing open-plan layout as the kitchen seamlessly merges with the living area, offering panoramic sea views of the marina and Torbay. As you settle into the cosy living space, let the sea air flow through, or take to the balcony to broaden the amazing vista. In the cooler months, also enjoy the warm glow of the wood-burning stove (ample wood, kindling, and firelighters are provided). Next to the kitchen area, the high dining table seats four. The feature-packed smart TV lets you stream your favourite on-demand programmes (subscriptions required) and adjusts to the ambient light for uninterrupted viewing, come rain or shine. There’s also a DVD player for your own choice of movies.The ground floor also includes a cosy bedroom with a new double bed with a toilet and basin. Ideal for children, there’s even another smart TV so they can enjoy their programmes while the grown-ups relish some quiet time.Upstairs there are two further bedrooms. To the rear, a nice-sized double bedroom, and to the front, the king-size bedroom with a large open-plan balcony to enjoy yet more spectacular sea views. Each bedroom is also equipped with a smart TV.Between the bedrooms is the family bathroom. Framed in subtle nautical-green brick tiles, there’s a corner shower, curved shower bath with shower attached, plus a basin and toilet. It is also worth mentioning that there is also an large illuminated Bluetooth mirror with inbuilt speakers that plays music from any Bluetooth device.This unforgettable retreat is private and secure from front to rear for the little ones and beloved pets.Guest AccessFresh Escapes will provide access details to the property exactly 48 hours before your check-in time. Guests have full private access to the cottage during their stay.The NeighbourhoodTorquay is a stylish English resort with a superb continental atmosphere. It knows how to cater for everyone’s tastes. For watersports, fishing and sailing, Torquay has a fabulous choice of beaches, while the evenings provide fine dining, theatre, cinema and star-studded shows for all the family. Torquay also has some of Devon’s best attractions including Kents Cavern, 800-year-old Torre Abbey with its Agatha Christie-inspired Potent Plants Garden and Babbacombe Model Village. Go back in time along Cockington’s narrow lanes, a charming village lined with thatched houses that date back to the 16th century. You can also walk the Agatha Christie mile and discover some of the murder scenes described in her novels. Take the picturesque steam train to Kingswear and jump aboard a riverboat up the Dart to visit her magnificent riverside residence at Greenway, run by the National Trust.If you have your car, you can play a round at Torquay Golf club and discover the local beaches, such as Torre Sands. Paignton, Goodrington Sands and Broadsands are nearby. Head to Meadfoot Beach for sunbathing, crabbing and lunch at the local cafe or go on a paddleboarding adventure at Anstey’s Cove. You could also catch the ferry over to historic Brixham harbour (Dartmouth) to enjoy Berry Head National Nature Reserve and its colourful rare plants or pick up something from the catch of the day at Brixham’s renowned Fish Market.Torquay is a real foodie destination. Try The Waddling Duck Bistro, the Cary Arms, Ollie’s, The Old Vienna and The Orange Tree. For seafood, head to No.7 Fish restaurant, which overlooks the marina, while Michelin-starred fare can be found at The Elephant. Pick up some treats for lunch at Me & Mrs Jones deli or indulge yourself at Naughty But Nice patisserie.Getting aroundBeing in the centre of Torquay you're within easy walking distance to a number of great family attractions, as well as bars, restaurants and eateries galore. If you're looking to get further afield and explore more of Devon, there are great public transport links too, with bus stops along the seafront, and Torquay Rail Station just 10-15 minutes walk away from the apartment.Torquay railway station is 22 minutes on foot, seven minutes by car, 20 minutes via bus and eight minutes by bike.There is a direct rail service to London Paddington connecting with the inter-city network at Newton Abbot.Torquay benefits from a comprehensive bus network that will take you to many of the destinations and attractions in the area. Stagecoach South West and Torbay Buses offer great services covering the English Riviera. There are taxi ranks located immediately outside the coach and railway stations throughout the English Riviera. Torbay Taxis offer a service 365 days per year with six-, seven- and eight-seater vehicles. From the end of March until the end of October there are regular ferries between Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes. Further information can be found via the Dartmouth Rail River Company website or the We Ferry website. Daily boat trips also depart from Torquay and Brixham to Dartmouth – the journey time is about an hour and a half each way.Other Things to NotePlease note that there are above 20 steps and a winding path up to the property, but they are not steep steps. If you are elderly or have mobility concerns, this will likely not be an accessible home. If you are of reasonable fitness, it is very easy to climb.Access to the Grade II-listed house is private to residential owners. We do ask guests to please respect this, and details will be provided in the guest manual for additional rules.Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere on the premises.Up to two smaller pets are permitted, however we do not allow pets on the furniture or upstairs.Interaction with GuestsThe Boathouse is professionally managed by Fresh Escapes.
