About this property

Self-catering accommodation in the beautiful North Pennines in a lovingly restored station building,

Built in 1875, Kirkby Stephen station was restored in 2005. Platform Cottage offers excellent accommodation in Cumbria's beautiful and un-spoilt Upper Eden Valley with stunning views of the Fells. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are in easy reach as is Hadrian’s Wall to the north. It’s perfect for walking the fells and cycling – as well as travelling on the spectacular Settle - Carlisle line.

Local Area

There are many great walks all around, with much ‘open access land’ on the tops of the fells. The town centre is a 40-minute walk down the field tarmac path (the main road does not have a pavement and the speeding traffic makes it too dangerous to risk walking on). There is plenty of parking in the town, and although the main road parking is often congested, there is a large car park which can be found by turning left at the mini roundabout and then following the signs.

Getting there

On the Settle Carlisle Railway line or just drive to Kirkby Stephen station from from the M6 junction 38 or from Brough on the A66.
