Spacious, modern family home. Open and airy in summer, cosy log fire in winter.
Fabulous, light airy and stylish home. The accent is on modern convenience and quality appliances, crockery, cutlery etc., balanced with some fine antiques. This house provides a lovely space for your family to quickly feel at home and enjoy longer stays.
There is a downstairs utility room and separate toilet with a family bathroom upstairs. There is a further en-suite bathroom in one of the four double bedrooms. The gas central heating is supplemented by a log burning fire which is lovely on cold winter or even autumn evenings.
This home is well situated in a tree lined road with adequate parking for up to three cars. Six pubs and restaurants are within about 5 minutes walk. One of these, the River Mill, is delightfully situated on the Great Ouse, on the edge of a nature park with some lovely cycling / walking. There are also various convenience shops and takeaways within a 5 minute walk.
St Neots town centre, a 15 minute walk or 5 minute cycle ride, provides excellent non-chain Italian / Chinese / Thai / Turkish / Indian restaurants as well as the usual national chain restaurants. The drive to the A1 is under 5 minutes and the railway station, about ten.
The kitchen is well supplied with double eye-level Bosch oven, dish-washer, wide gas hob, slow cookers, fridge freezer, wine fridge, air fryer as well as Ninja 15 in 1 multi-cooker, ice -maker, Dualit toaster, rice maker etc.
The dining table extends for eight people, and there is Denby tableware and Villeroy and Boch cutlery for more than eight settings. The living room has a Cambridge / Bowers & Wilkins hi-fi, with CD, Blu-Tooth and deck with a good range of vinyl records. TV and XBox. There is also a Cambridge hi-fi in the room with 2 single beds, along with very heavy powerful Fender amp and various guitars. There are numerous board games in the side-board. For families with children who like Lego an absolutely huge collection can be made available.
It’s a fun, friendly house with a great vibe.
Whilst there is strictly no smoking inside there are areas to smoke outside, by the fire pit or on the decking.
For environmental reasons I do not run the hot tub between October and March. The hot tub is open from 1st April to the end of September.
In addition to English I speak French, Indonesian and Cantonese, albeit not as fluently as I once did!

Great location to our daughter and granddaughters. Carl is a very attentive and cordial host. Spacious property with great amenities, including wood stove useful for this time of year. Kitchen/dining area worked great for meals with our family.
Carl's house was great for our family trip. We had everything we needed, Carl is a great host, he was there to welcome us & showed us around. The location was ideal, with plenty of shops & restaurants.
We stayed in Carl’s house during a visit to the UK from the USA. It is a great property for a family and we got lots of use out of the back garden area. Carl is a great host — highly recommended.
Stayed her during hot weather, the outside space was amazing, plenty of seating areas and great for dining out. Fabulous BBQ to use also.
Carl was a very good host, met us at the property and explained many things, gave good suggestions for eating out etc. Lovely big lounge area also.

Thanks Richard. Thx for your other helpful feedback also. I hope your run home wasn’t too arduous. Carl
Lovely house, outside space fantastic, location great.
Stayed with family from 39 - 80 years old. Met by property owner and really felt genuinely welcomed into his home. Good sized bedrooms and great layout downstairs. The outside space is perfect to relax with friends or family. Great stay.

We had a great time at this property.
Carl was helpful and responsive.
Beds were comfortable. Rain shower was amazing!
We enjoyed sitting out in the garden when the weather allowed and had a fire outside in the fire place. Good local amenities too.

Thanks Sarah that’s very kind. Hope to see you again sometime
We have just spent an amazing 5 nights here with friends ageing from 48 - 72 and a 14 year old. Carl was brilliant in communicating with me when I booked for the group and met us with a warm welcome on arrival. He gave a tour of the house giving us all the information we needed. Even though we had visited the area before he gave us some brilliant ideas for takeaways and restaurants we hadn’t visited before.
A great place to stay with an easy walk or bus into St Neots. We would all thoroughly recommend.
We stayed for 2 nights as we had a wedding in Bedford and reception at Bassmead Manor. The property was easily big enough for us all (5 in total, 2 couples and a single), really well equipped with some great little extras like record player and records, dart board (outside) and darts, jaccouzzi (we didn’t get time to use it :( ) .
The house is a cab ride away from the town and rail station and most importantly for us, Bassmead Manor.
Our host was there to greet us and show us some of the less straight forward things and we were given instructions, hints and tips for the house and St Neots via email and in person. Communication was brilliant.
St Neots itself is lovely and the Riverside and town centre have lots going on with plenty of restaurants and pubs.
Very enjoyable stay, thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Carl Bonass
I’m from Yorkshire but lived in Asia much of my life after graduation. Up until recently I worked for a global firm as a consultant, much of the time in Africa. I now enjoy a range of work including free-lance consulting, psychology and writing.
I love to host and help people discover this lovely area. I’m easily contactable and can pop round from my other property as needed.
Why they chose this property
Whilst I’ve lived in various parts of the world I’ve only recently discovered the joys of St Neots and Cambridgeshire. I can still easily get into London, but I can also cycle to Cambridge or the lovely St Ives. My main love of St Neots stems from the friendliness of the local people as well as the number of excellent live bands every Friday / Saturday at various venues.
What makes this property unique
I love the light rooms, the broad upper landing (where I sometimes do my writing) and how well my favourite antique bits and pieces fit with the overall modernity of this house.
