Each apartment has a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower and toilet, and a kitchenette with fridge, combi oven and hob, plus everything you need to prepare your meals and breakfast.
Ideal for business trips or family vacations, you'll be immersed in the world of the train, with authentic furnishings such as tablets, benches and train berths.
The Auberge du Chemin de fer offers two unusual accommodations following the acquisition of this X3876 railcar, known as the Picasso for its elevated, nose-shaped driver's cab, a feature of some of Picasso's portraits.
Each apartment has a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom with shower and toilet, and a kitchenette with fridge, combi oven and hob, plus everything you need to prepare your meals and breakfast.
All rooms are air-conditioned for your comfort.
Ideal for business trips or family vacations, you'll be immersed in the world of the train, with authentic furnishings such as tablets, benches and train berths.
We've completely dismantled it to bring it up to current standards, with double-glazed insulation, electricity and plumbing, while preserving its authenticity by preserving the windows and interior fittings, ceilings, doors, furniture and driver's cabin.

we created the Auberge du chemin de fer in 2008 by completely renovating the establishment and thematizing it around the train because of its location, with the image and sound of the closing of the gates for trains arriving at Lorient station or departing from Paris.
This immediately creates a railway atmosphere.
We then gave it a soul by decorating every space in the Auberge, with objects, photo books and numerous donations from railwaymen and their families.
We toured the stations of Brittany for inspiration, and fell under the spell of this X3876 railcar lying in Carhaix station.
It was a real coup de coeur and the birth of a crazy project:
To acquire a dilapidated train that had become a graffitied squat, move it to Lanester and transform it into accommodation.
It took eight years to bring this project to fruition and make the impossible possible:
Negotiations, acquisition, transport and building permits, cleaning, dismantling and fitting out. Many thanks to the project's partner craftsmen.
