Lovely spacious apartment perfect for two
My husband and I spent 5 nights at Loweswater cottage. It is a lovely spacious apartment near Esthwaite and just down the road from Hill Top - both are within walking distance. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was quiet and peaceful with beautiful views across fields down to the lake. The roads to reach the property are a small and winding, like many roads in the area, but it was easy to find. We received clear instructions about check in and details of the property. Highly recommended.

6/10 Okay

Loweswater
A cosy retreat, but the whole ambience was spoilt on entry by one of the first things we saw, holes in the carpets! There were holes in the lounge and bedroom carpets where furniture had been moved. The carpet did not meet the gripper strip in the lounge leading into the bedroom. The large lounge floor mat was filthy and needed a good clean to remove the stains criss crossing it. Overall the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were clean. The kitchen had a good range of cooking implements for self catering, including sharp knives. We were surprised to find there were no USB plugs anywhere in the property to charge phones, iPads etc. In addition the Wi-Fi had a very weak signal and the TV was poor, probably due to location. We had a named parking space which was good.

Third year staying here. Excellent location. The accommodation provides everything you need for your stay. A good pub just down the road called tower bank arms provides excellent food and local beers. Good walking routes to the ferry which takes you to bowness. Will be back again next year

Needs a complete overhaul
We booked this as I was doing a race nearby so it served its purpose. But if we’d have booked this for a holiday we’d have been sorely disappointed. Whilst it had obviously been cleaned the carpet, rug and sofas were spiked and clearly need to be professionally cleaned or replaced. The tap in the kitchen sink dripped constantly which was annoying. The bathroom was morally and mildest and smelt very damp. Clearly the property has been furnished to minimum expense and is very sterile. The bed was comfortable however. Location was a great as close to start of race. We were both extremely disappointed and surprised at state of the property. Definitely need some work doing to it.

Great location
The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Lovely to have access to a big outdoor space and a path down to the lake. Ideal for visiting Hill Top. We ordered groceries from the farm shop which had been delivered before we arrived, which was great.

Our holiday
We love coming back to esthwaite farm cottage, and have done so for many years, there’s a few small things I can suggest: a decent can opener, a non stick frying pan , a dog poo bin , a mop and bucket, maybe different pillows , ours were very hard , I had to buy 2 soft ones for our two week stay . The plus points are , great space for dogs, friendly staff, plenty of heat and hot water, carpets, free laundry and a fabulous location

Excellent Value For Money
We had a great stay at Loweswater and would recommend it to others. We would like to mention to the Graythwaite Estate that the double bed was very small and uncomfortable. We appreciate that it may not be possible to accommodate a larger bed in the room but it could have been more comfortable. Another minor point was people parking in front of windows. Graythwaite ask in their confirmation letter that people should not do this but it was generally being ignored. Please could you put up signs so that those in ground floor apartments are not inconvenienced in this way. We came for views of countryside not the back of someone's Audi so we put a polite note on the car but the effect was that he went out of his way to carry on doing it which was irritating.

Beautiful location/site with a few little let downs
Absolutely idyllic spot and perfect for a wedding we were attending on the estate. The building, courtyard and surrounding areas are beautiful. There were just a few issues - like having to wait to check-in until 5pm (cleaners were obviously very busy, and they left the accommodation spotless) and we had a tight turnaround time-wise which made it a bit difficult (I think 4.30pm is already quite a late check-in time for accommodation anyway). This could have been a one-off! Also, we tried to stop-by the estate farm shop to pick up some groceries, which had just shut for an hour in the afternoon during their ‘opening hours’ - again, this may have been a one-off, but being this side of lake Windermere made it difficult to find anywhere else locally to get the perishable essentials that we couldn’t bring on our 300-odd mile trip up (obviously we’d have stopped en-route if we’d have known). In general I think the accommodation could do with a bit of updating - the toilet seat had a crack in it, the toilet roll holder was broken, the cutlery/crockery/basic kitchen equipment all seemed quite old/well-used. The bedroom and living areas were comfy and good for relaxing in. Being on the ground floor you just have to be wary of cars parking right outside your bedroom window - I think is asked of residents to strictly not do this, but no one enforces it. It’s not that I wouldn’t recommend the property, but hope the owners will take some notice of the review and remedy any issues going forward - based on our stay, I wouldn’t pay the same price to stay again.

This is our 7th stay here and it such a perfect location. For us and the dogs. Nice an peaceful while the other side I’ve Windermere is full of people. Great walks on your door step. So you can just leave the car and explore.

Loweswater cottage
We’ve stayed here many years due to it’s beautiful location and able to take our dogs, generally the cottage interior needs some updating ie carpets, cushions etc, our toaster was broken and the shower cubicle is aged . However it’s an easygoing atmosphere and the staff are helpful. Ps the fridge is small and a struggle as it’s very low down.

July 2021 Loweswater
A more modest Graythwaite property than some but in a nice rural position. We stayed during school term time and found it peaceful and relaxing with views outside across fields to Estwaite Water. Fridge is very small and under counter which made our small shopping delivery difficult to fit in. The property would benefit from a refurbishment which we understand has taken place in some of the other properties in this setting. That said we found this property a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay
