Rosemill is a stunning four-storey town house with parking, in a popular part of Whitby and just a short stroll from the town centre. The house is named after a French pirate who jumped ship off the coast of Whitby, settled in the area and was given an Anglicised name, and is an ancestor of the owner! The living and dining area are open plan creating a warm social hub, perfect for family gatherings. The kitchen is fitted with most conveniences, the bedrooms are beautifully decorated, and some enjoy views across Whitby to the abbey. There are small terraces front and back to sit out after a day of exploration.
The area is perfect for visitors all year round with so much to see and do. Whitby boasts 3 miles of sandy beach that stretches along to Sandsend and is perfect for fossil hunting and rock pooling. The Cleveland Way travels along the coast and covers lots of picturesque bays such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes. Or take the Cinder Track out of Whitby, over the viaduct towards Robin Hood’s Bay on the old railway line.
Whitby is full of cobbled backstreets, traditional tea rooms, award-winning fish and chips and has an up and coming food scene with bistros and restaurants to complement the pub grub and live music. The abbey stands over town and can be accessed up the 199 steps, from where you can enjoy some amazing views over the town. For an alternative day out, take a tourist boat out to sea in search of whales, dolphins and seals, or just enjoy the view of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. There are many festivals and events in the town from the bi-annual Goth Weekender to Soul and Folk music festivals.
Travel into the heart of the North York Moors by steam train which twists its way into Goathland, made famous as Aidensfield in the TV series, Heartbeat. The North York Moors National Park has some amazing natural beauty to discover from waterfalls and view points, to miles of natural footpaths.
The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just 30 minutes down the coast and boasts a Sealife Centre, water park and regular concerts at the open air theatre. Or you could take a trip to the walled city of York for a day of sight-seeing and history with the magnificent minster and museums, or just take a stroll around the city walls. There are surf schools, mountain bike and cycle tracks and even off road adventures, along with plenty of fishing for more relaxing days. Beach ¼ mile. Shop 75 yards, pub and restaurant 150 yards.
