This holiday home is absolutely fantastic! It had everything we needed, David and Helen left some milk so we could have tea and the kitchen is fully equipped to cook with oil, salt and pepper, herbs etc. David and Helen’s communication was fantastic! Very responsive as we were having WiFi issues. The little log fire is great and they left enough wood for us to enjoy it. The location is perfect, there is a Coop 2 minutes down the road and the high street and sea front are around a 6-7 min walk. We will definitely be returning.

Many thanks for your lovely comments and they are greatly appreciated. Would love to welcome you back now you know that the parking is a great bonus, particularly during busy periods in the town .
Our stay was amazing! The house was very clean upon arrival. There was plenty of space for my two kids to be able to play and relax after our long drive to Cornwall. There was ample space for the kids to play indoors. The rooms were all a great size and the beds were very comfortable. The two bathrooms were great so that we didn't have to worry about using the toilet if one kid was having a bath. The kitchen was a great size and had loads of amenities. It was an easy and quick walk to the waterfront of St Ives. The co-op down the street meant we didn't have to drive for groceries. Being so close to the core of St Ives also made getting some local Fish and Chips and Pasties easy!Thank you for an amazing stay!

The house is in a good location and accessible for town, but the house needs updating. It is quite tired and because the loft room is actually the best room in the house and one that has been refurbished, it shows up the rest of the house. We had problems with the oven and the hosts were responsive by mail but could not get it fixed. However, not sure the opening gambit being ‘we have not had problems with it before’ gives you confidence it will be addressed. We don’t always eat in on a holiday but when we do want to use the facilities, they should work but also have a way of getting any maintenance issue sorted quickly. They did not manage to sort it but we managed.
I think the level of cleanliness needs some attention as prior to finding out if the oven worked I had to clean all the grill racks as we were hoping to have pizza. There is an air fryer so we had to improvise.
The bathroom and toilet taps are not great as they are push downs with the bathroom ones popping back up immediately. I think a deep clean (especially of the stairs carpet and landing) plus the bathroom tiles are needed.
There is no real outside space as the rear of the house backs onto a car park. Although there is a table in the small front decked area you would not want to sit out, as it is on the main road and very busy.
However, it served our purposes for a short stay of three days but I would not stay longer or return.
In this occasion the old adage stands that you get what you pay for.

Good morning Peter
Many thanks for your review and we are sorry to hear that you were not 100% happy with your stay. We would like to respond to your comments.
We do respond to any issues that need to be addressed such as the oven and unfortunately we were unable to sort this in the time that you were staying. Electricians and plumbers are particularly at a premium in St Ives and therefore we can not always get them to respond within 24hrs
We purchased the house at the beginning of this year and at least 80% of the furnishings and fittings are brand new. Rome however was not built in a day and our plans are continuing to bring the house to the standard that we are happy with. The carpet in the hall and landing and bathroom are two of the priorities we have planned to update later in the year, however the carpet has been deep cleaned earlier in the year. Our description of the house does not say that we have outside space at the back as it is a traditional terraced house with an alley. The area at the front is used regularly by our other guests so again we are sorry that it was not conducive to your relaxation.
Our prices at 5 are currently lower than our sister property at Cornish Pearl to reflect that this holiday home is still undergoing a transformation. The lower price you paid was presumably a factor in the reason you booked
Kind regards

About the host
Hosted by David and Helen Hurst
We are David and Helen and we live in the North West of England and have two homes in St Ives Cornwall. Helen had family in St Ives and has holidayed there since the 1960's and then continued to come to St Ives with David and the family since the late 1970's
Why they chose this property
The coastal waters are as beautiful as any other place in the world. The Cornish people are welcoming and St Ives is just a beautiful beauty spot to relax and recharge the batteries
What makes this property unique
Our holiday home is special to us as it truly is a home from home. If there are more than 6 of you wishing to stay at 5 There is the option of taking Cornish Pearl property also as this is next door to 5 and both are special and unique in their own way
