About this property
Tan Chalet at Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort
Welcome to the warmth and rustic luxury of Cabot Shores Wilderness Resort & Retreat Centre. Located along the Cabot Trail with 55 acres of private sanctuary overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Cabot Shores offers breathtaking views and outdoor adventures on site (such as kayak, canoe, hiking etc), with many recommended activities near by.
Along with many other interesting and unique accommodations (such as yurts and domes), Cabot Shores has four bright and spacious chalets that can accommodate couples, groups and even pets! With a full kitchen, dining and living area, two bathrooms and covered terrace, you can enjoy the comforts of home while experiencing the wonders of Cape Breton Island. If you don't feel like cooking, join us in our GoBistro featuring healthy menu's and organic ingredients from our garden.
Each chalet is over 950 sq feet with wooden interiors decorated with original artwork, with the best view of the Bird Islands and our private beach from the top floor. Open four seasons, have your choice of electric heat or curl up by a wood stove.
The Tan Chalet has a tan roof! It's big enough for up to 8 people and has a full kitchen with the necessary amenities, dining and sitting area, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a covered deck in front, fire pit and picnic table. The bedroom downstairs has a double bed and the loft room upstairs a queen and 2 twin beds. You can also bring your furry friend for an additional $15 a night. This chalet is wheelchair accessible and there is parking right behind it. Linens, towels, and soap provided.
Guests enjoy our complimentary meditation and Qi Gong sessions. Rent kayaks, canoes, yoloboard, snowshoes, or simply explore our trails along the Indian Brook and ocean. Hot tubs and infrared sauna are also available for surcharge. A variety of guest facilities including outdoor barbecues and wood fired pizza oven, coin laundry and free wifi (in the main lodge) are available.

At Cabot Shores, your hosts are Dr. Paul and Barbara Weinberg, Cosmo the guide dog and friendly staff. Barbara is an accomplished acupuncturist, vegetarian chef and gardener. Paul can be found jamming on the blues harmonica and trombone, hiking, yoloboarding or kayaking with Barbara and Cosmo.
Why they chose this property
We've traveled the world and found Cape Breton to be a unique, unspoiled and sacred place. We bought and renovated a farmhouse at Breton Cove in 2000, then saw the opportunity at Indian Brook to build a special resort and retreat center where people can easily discover and create their own adventure.
The natural beauty of Cape Breton, and the warmth and hospitality among its three main cultures (Mi'kmaq, Acadian and Scottish) drew us to create Cabot Shores, where great stories and memories are guaranteed.

What makes this property unique
Cabot Shores is not just a bed to sleep in, it is a chance to create your own adventure all in one location. With so many different and unique accommodations, you can experience something completely new each time you come - from a Mongolian Yurt to a chalet, from the cozy lodge to the tree house domes in our orchard! Rent a Kayak, canoe or yoloboard to explore the pond and Indian Brook, then visit our private beach and the ocean beyond by crossing on the Eagle Feather ferry. Have a picnic by the river or hike the waterfall trail. See moose cross the water while sitting in one of our cedar soaking tubs. Try meditation, Qi Gong or acupuncture. Ask us how we can help create the adventure you are looking for.
