About this property

Bird of paradise, purple papaya

"Bird of Paradise Beachfront Cottages" are "a new way to vacation", bringing all the amenities of home to your own private beachfront oasis. Enjoy sleeping on a king size bed and lifting your head up to see pristine ocean staring back at you. Save and cook your own meals in our fully stocked kitchen including electric range, numerous utensils, and cookware. You can even choose where to bath, either inside or alfresco in the ocean side shower. Cool off and Take a dip in the custom made infinity edge pool over looking the beach. If you've had to much sun and the air conditioning is more your speed feel free to lounge on the couch and watch some TV on our flat screen. Staying at Purple Papaya means you enjoy panoramic views of the turquoise blue Atlantic Ocean and tinted pink sand beach by day and outrageous sunsets and star gazing by night.

**Keep in mind that our neighbors Tippy's close for a period of time in September and October. Please call them for details. Tippy's is also next door to our Purple Papaya cottage, therefore you may hear some island vibes and tunes while outside, (this is of course out of our control).**

**Please also keep in mind that Eleuthera is a secluded island, therefore at times the island may shut off the water, as well as internet or electricity. Water pressure can be low as well, but this is all due to being on a secluded island, so please be patient with us. Any of this issues will not result in the guest getting compensated since this is out of our control**

Purple Papaya was perfect! The location is perfect in so many ways…..directly on the beach, centrally located on the island and next door to Tippy’s! It is extremely clean, well maintained (mostly) quaint but does not feel small. If it had a washer and dryer, it would be perfection! The views are stunning! The pool is definitely a bonus! So great to have a dip after a day in the sun and sand. You will love it!!!!

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Purple Papaya. The cottage was super clean and well stocked. The views were phenomenal! We walked the beach every day. We enjoyed Tippys, for lunch and dinner. We could hear the music from our back porch, while enjoying the pool . Would definitely recommend staying at Purple Papaya.

What an amazing place, the pics don't do the view justice! The house is also in a great location, easy access to Gov. Harbour, other beautiful beaches. Host was very responsive. We did a quick load of laundry at the laundromat in GH while getting coffee nearby which made it easy. Cooked at the house some, it had what we needed. We will be back to Purple Papaya!

Heaven on earth!

Purple Papaya is ideal for anyone looking for a place for true rest and relaxation. Great host and the location can’t be beat. It sits on a the most gorgeous beach, easy drive to Governors Harbor, and adjacent to Tippy’s restaurant. The house is as advertised: clean, neat, and modern – with a priceless view. I highly recommend the house and host!

The Absolute Best Experience of My Life!!

Purple Papaya checked off all of our boxes. It was clean, with a pool, and the view, my God, the view. Everyday we walked on the beach, got in the ocean, got in the pool only to take another walk during the sunset. Watching the sunrise was life changing!! Only God could create something so beautiful and Purple Papaya provided that for us!!

The property is exactly as described and pictured. The location is about as good as it can be - you’re directly on one of the best beaches on the island. Definitely get an SUV from Tericita - extremely helpful and rates are good. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

If you enjoy privacy and having your own slice of heaven this is the PREFECT place! It’s well kept, clean, and comfortable. Owner was helpful and easy to deal with. There are beach chairs, towels and snorkel equipment which made things super easy. We grabbed some groceries in town and spent the next six days reading and relaxing. Truly a perfect vacation. This is a gorgeous place. I think that Heaven will be very much like waking up to see those beautiful sparkling blue waves crashing into the white sand just outside our glass doors. I wish I could take that amazing view home with me! The power went out on the island several times but the Purple Papaya has a back up generator, so that was not a problem. The location is great. Good food right next door at Tippy’s(but slow service). Governor’s Harbour has shopping and restaurants too. We enjoyed several sunsets at the French Leave restaurant. Pascal’s restaurant is also a great choice! Over all this is an exceptional place to relax and unwind and spend a few days on “island time” I have been wanting to come here for 5 years and I’m so happy we finally made it. It was worth the wait!

Best beach in Eleuthera

We can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was at the Purple Papaya! This house is ON THE BEACH. It could not possibly be any closer. Every morning and night we could sit in bed and just watch the ocean. Heaven. House was spotless. Right next to the best bar/restaurant on the island - Tippy’s. We ate there every day. Loved it. If we would have had more people I would have wanted an oven and washer/dryer but it was just the two of us so perfect for a 5 day getaway. The property manager, Tarictia, was amazing! Picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. She owns SUV by the sea and we rented a vehicle from her during our stay. Loved her, loved the house, highly highly recommend. Thank you Bird of Paradise! We will definitely be back!:)

Adventure and relaxation

Went to Eleuthera with my wife for our 21st Anniversary. Great communication with the property from the very beginning. We rented a car from Tarictia and that is definitely the way to go. She was waiting at the airport for us when we landed. It’s about an hour drive to the residence from the N. Eleuthera airport. Tarictia will tell you all about the island on the way there. It’s hard to believe but the accommodation was actually more magnificent than the pictures. We soon realized that this is one of those places that the camera can’t actually capture the beauty of what it’s looking at. Just an FYI that the pool is not heated. Not a big deal, but would be nice for sure in the winter months. Property was clean and well kept. Only thing the kitchen was lacking was an oven. Which we didn’t need as we only used it for breakfast and lunch. We ate at restaurants for dinner, which I recommend. 1648 was our favorite, followed by Tippy’s and Buccaneer club. All of them are good but expensive. The only thing I could possibly say was that at one point the water pressure didn’t work and therefore the toilet wouldn’t flush. I told Tarictia and it was fixed quickly while we were out to dinner. It never happened again. We are already planning our next stay here. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the beautiful beaches and people of the Bahamas.

Why they chose this property

We purchased the land where Bird of Paradise Beachfront Cottages now stand in 2004 on a complete whim with aspirations to eventually build. It wasn't until 2016 when we finally broke ground on three cottages that now sit facing the Atlantic Ocean just south of Tippys. Eleuthera is a special place to us that has always served as a location to simply getaway from it all.
