Laughing Hippo is the classic mountain cabin named after a beloved Grandfather. This two bedroom one bath beauty is located high on a mountain in the Cherry Log community half way between Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Its tranquil setting is just what you need to wind down from your hectic daily schedule. All of the living area is located on one level and there are only four easy steps to get in. There are two queen bedrooms and one full bath with a tub/shower combo. The living room is clean and comfortable with seating for four facing the wood burning fireplace and a flat screen TV/DVD with cable programming and WIFI. The kitchen has everything you need to keep the family happy and seating for four as well. The laundry is also located on this level. Kick back on the screened in porch and watch nature pass by in the wooded valley below. Downstairs on the covered patio you will find a picnic table, swing, gas grill with a spare tank, and a wood burning stove. There is even a double size hammock and another flat screen TV waiting for you and a dart board too. Feeling ambitious, the Benton Mackaye hiking trail passes only a couple hundred yards away. Please respect our guests with allergies, sorry no pets at Laughing Hippo. With easy access to highway 515 it is a breeze to get here, no 4WD needed. Perfectly located for day trips to Blue Ridge and north into Tennessee and the Ocoee River, Ellijay, Carters Lake, Amicalola Falls and the wineries of Gilmer County and Dahlonega, there is even an old time drive-in movie theater close by.

Our first "trip" together & it was MORE than we hoped for! We were charmed with this cabin & location! We plan on coming back to this exact cabin again one day soon. Completely satisfied. I actually miss it
The heat stopped working Friday night and i called then they sent someone to the wrong cabin to check it out then finally they came late Saturday night and also said to use the fireplace and when we did it was not venting out and smoked the whole cabin up we could barely breathe in the middle of the night I had to get up and put the fire out and open the doors to air the place out,so I have never in my life been dissatisfied with a place in my life, and on top of that there were pictures of a man all over the place and what seem to be ashes in one bedroom
It was a good stay but property does not seem to be monitored closely but only minor things like bath clothes and detergents for dishes and clothing. TV and furniture need updating. Outside sitting area was excellent. Nice couple get away for two or three nights

My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary at the cabin. It was a wonderful experience, cozy and had everything we needed for a vacation. We loved sitting on the Adirondack chairs next to the fire pit in the evenings!

This is a lovely get-away. Loved the hot tub. Loved the trees! I will definitely book this cabin again in the future.
It was a very nice place, but we had some difficulties finding it as the gps didn’t bring us to the right cabin and we couldn’t get ahold of anyone to help until the morning so we had to get a motel for the night. Rough start that kinda dampened the mood for the week. But the cabin was very nice once we settled in. Hot tub needed to be a bit cleaner, but overall stay was nice and relaxing
Overall it was very nice and enjoyable. Some of the lighting/electrical switches were confusing, but we figured it out. We were not able to turn on the lights on the level with the hot tub, so we’re not sure if they were broken or not. Entering and exiting the parking area was a little dangerous/sketchy, but we made it work in a sedan. Otherwise, was a very nice place and good experience!
The cabin and surrounding areas were beautiful! We loved the surrounding forest and nature, and enjoyed being close to downtown Blue Ridge. I would advise that guests come prepared. We were told that some firewood would be provided, but there was none. Luckily the nearby Ingles was well stocked! Additionally, there were only a few paper towels supplied and no lighter or matched that we could find. Other than that, we definitely enjoyed our stay.
Overall we really enjoyed the stay. Loved our time in the hot tub and porch swing. Very close to town and in close driving range to many activities. We were a lot closer to neighbors than I’d liked, but we will definitely stay again.
The cabin is perfect for a couple- very cozy. We loved the hot tub. It rained quite a bit while we were there but we did get to sit out back and enjoy the woods a short time. The only issue we had was that the cabin had not been cleaned when we checked in. The owner was very easy to get in touch with and someone came to clean relatively quickly. We didn't get settled in the cabin until almost 7:30 pm so that was disappointing. However, we didn't let it spoil our vacation.

Bad news then Good news.
Bad News: I never got the check in directions , so when I got there I had to call VRBO and we called the property owner 4X . In the property owners defense it was 12 midnight. Finally he email back and we got in.
Good News: everything was clean and well maintained. The beds were soft and relaxing. We felt right at home. The hot tub was a great touch! I would stay again.
I loved staying in the little cabin! It was so cozy, and the hot tub is definitely a must. Great price for all the amenities available to you. Can't wait to come back to Blue Ridge!!
If ypu rent this place. Please make sure you put a space between Ridge View. If you type it in like they send it to you. You will end up 50 miles north of the location. Nobody ever provided a key code to the box the door was just left u locked.
