Key West is old and historic when
The homes were built-in this area. Parking was always on the sides of the street and is FREE.
A great way to see the island however, is by bicycle plus there are so many different kinds of vehicles you can rent it is amazing.

You will be staying at Varela Street Retreat. Only a beautiful half-mile walk from the beach.
My place has a full kitchen with full size refrigerator and stove. A complete dining area and a living room/bedroom combination and bathroon. You also have your own large private patio.The 1/2 mile walk straight down the street to the public beach is lovely.
The beach also has a nice small restaurant onsite.
You will love staying in this great location where 90% of the residents are local. They each have an interesting Key West tale to tell and are a very warm, friendly and diverse group. Here you will absorb the ambiance that made Key West what it is today.
Varela St. Retreat is located in historic Old Town away from the bustle on famous Duval Street. It is only half a mile to the closest beach and a 7 minute walk to Duval Street. It is less that one block to the White Street art gallery district, the grocery, the laundry, the largest city park,restaurants, shops, bike rental shop and more.
Go ahead, kick your feet up and make yourself at home! You are about to enter Varela St. Retreat. Here you will meander back a secluded stone pathway to reach your very own private, spacious stone patio complete with lush overhanging tropical vegetation.
A table and chairs and plants
await you. You can dine out and soak up the warm inviting Florida sunshine,chat with your friends or just catch up on some reading. The front room of your apartment is a combination of a full kitchen and a separate dining/office area. The back room has a queen-size bed and a living area complete with a sleeper sofa. The bathroom has a stall shower. The apartment has all new ceramic tile and wood laminate flooring.
Varela St. Retreat offers FREE parking right on the sides of the street in designated areas. First come first serve.

Also, ask me about a pool hook up if needed. So please come and make Varela St Retreat your temporary home while away from home!

Ac is sufficient. Kitchen is what you need it to be. Bathroom and shower are what you need them to be. Location is great for being away from the hustle and bustle when you want to be, but close enough for an impromptu turtle trip at midnight!

My wife and I really enjoyed the property. It was intimate and cozy and perfect for just the two of us. Shower is a bit tight but it served its purpose. We would definitely stay here again.

This guest stayed at my property. The dates of November 20th through November 24th over the weekend. He kept telling me there was a smell in the bathroom area which I took very seriously cause i have not had that happen. I asked him to help me identify the mystery smell. Was it plumbing related or other related He said he did not know. I even had my friend go in.as soon as he left, she could still not identify the smell. So I did not know what to do. So I went out on a limb and called a plumber in.. indeed, they said it was a broken toilet seal, and they put on the strongest seal they had. They said it can in mystery smell. Luckily, that seemed to solve the problem that was done on the 25th of November. Before the next guest checked in.. So indeed, there was a bad smell when he was there, that is true. The picture he is showing of the yellow and Gray. That seems to be an old bedspread that he.put on the bed and not sheets. During this same time. The owner of the cleaning business lost her crew, she said so she temporarily had her son clean. And he must have found an old bedspread that had been laundred, but nevertheless old. When I saw that I was very upset.that he put that on the bed when I had new bed spreads and i had new sheets i had supplied them that he could have used that look much so much nicer. I was told by other guests in my other vacation rental.that when this young man cleaned, the place was clean but everything was not organized so well. Since this incident the end of November. I have hired a new cleaning crew the best on the island.. They will start jan 1st 2026. When the current owner of cleaning business had her crew. I did not have cleaning complaints, but they were not so organized, putting things out for me. I see.when this young man cleaned he did not dump the trash for these people another mistake he made.. I do very much apologize to the guest. That stayed at this time. They arrived during a serious change over and during a time when there was plumbing problem. That was solved very quickly when they left.the day after and before the next arrived.

We really enjoyed our stay..the little guest house was cute and exactly what it advertised. The bed could have been a little softer and a little more cleaning in the unit wouldnt hurt either..the only other thing, is there was not enough bike parking. Overall everything was good, location, noise, food etc.

The value for Key West was excellent. We stayed 5 nights for what our friends paid for 1. It's older, but that is a lot of the charm. Staying in the neighborhood was a completely different vibe. We were able to walk to everywhere, including a great grocery store and we walked to Mass at a beautful Catholic basilica. We had a flight change and host was extremely flexible. Communication was extremely quick. Duval St. was a quick easy walk which saved so much on Ubers. We would definitely stay here again.

Quick Key West Visit

This was a great location and easy place to stay. We were able to walk to many locations in Old Town. The new updates are a nice addition to this location. Fresh paint, refrigerator, A/C and the patio is a great place to relax.

Thank you todd. I do try to keep my prices on the lodging which is the only part I keep as low as possible. I think you paid for the lodging portion 139 a night. I'm in a very good location in Key West, close to the beach and everything and it has a full kitchen and a full patio. We also just also did some renovation and updates.in this rental not shown on pictures.
