About this property
Fast WiFi, Amazing Kitchen, Views, & Private Office/Yard In the Heart of Oaxaca
This lovely house is in a fabulous spot in beautiful downtown Oaxaca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/415). Casa Crespo is within walking distance (5-10 min.) of the best attractions Oaxaca has to offer, including the historic Zócalo (central plaza), the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the Santo Domingo Museum of Oaxacan Cultures, the Ethnobotanical Garden, the Carmen Bajo Church, the Carmen Alto Church and former Convent with its adjacent market, as well as many restaurants, cafes, museums, galleries, and shops.
Casa Crespo offers fast fiber internet (WiFi 6), perfect for those working remotely (strong mesh signal throughout the house, including the office, yard, balconies, and bedrooms). The beautiful private office downstairs shows the original green "Cantera Verde" quarry foundation, making it a perfect motif for your video conference background. Additionally, Casa Crespo has a local telephone number, and we provide unlimited long-distance calling to Canada and the US and an additional 50 other countries (please ask for a list)--share it with your family back home for extra peace of mind.
If you are planning to visit Oaxaca toward the end of July, Casa Crespo is the perfect spot for the Guelaguetza Festival, as it is just a few hundred feet from the stairway to the Cerro del Fortín, where the Lunes del Cerro celebration takes place (usually the last two Mondays of the month)!
You will be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful/functional kitchen in town. It can be an excellent complement for those attending one of the many Oaxacan cooking academies (it is well-stocked with everything you might need).
Regarding sleeping accommodations, the master bedroom has a king-size bed, a full bathroom, and a beautiful balcony; the second and third bedrooms each have a double and a single bed and private bathrooms.
The common areas are relaxing and well-kept. A laundry room is provided for your convenience. If you bring a car, you can rest easy knowing Casa Crespo has a secured garage with an automatic door.
Finally, Casa Crespo is in front of a bus route, which makes it convenient to get to from anywhere in the city.
In summary:
- Fast fiber, whole-house internet (WiFi 6) perfect for working remotely
- Private, beautiful office (ideal for those working remotely)
- Comfortably sleeps six (6) adults
- Located in a perfect spot downtown
- Four (4) blocks from the famous church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán
- Six (6) blocks from the Basilica La Soledad
- Beautiful/unbeatable terrace views (from the master bedroom, the kitchen/dining area, and the living room)!
- Includes Smart TVs with access to Claro Video, Paramount+, and Samsung Plus
- Local telephone with unlimited long-distance (see details above)
- Equipped with an electric fence with alarm and security cameras
- Only 20 minutes from the Oaxaca International Airport (OAX)
- One complete cleaning per week is included with a weekly rental
Come and experience Oaxacan hospitality at its best!

About the host
Hosted by Gene Hayes
I was born and raised in Oaxaca, so its food, culture, climate, and traditions are all part of me. I love that place with a passion!
After graduating from High School, I attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, USA, where I got a bachelor's degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics. Later, I obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Marriott School of Business, also at BYU.
I have traveled to over 60 countries, and Oaxaca still has a special place in my heart, and I hope that you will fall in love with it too!

Why they chose this property
This lovely house holds a special place in our hearts because it was built by my mother’s late husband for his mother. It’s been completely renovated and lovingly maintained over the years and is in fantastic shape. We truly believe it’s a hidden gem for anyone visiting Oaxaca!
What makes this property unique
As they say, location, location, location. Casa Crespo is an excellent spot to explore downtown Oaxaca and all it offers. If you want to be in the middle of the action of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then Casa Crespo is it! Nonetheless, the location would not matter if the property were not comfortable, safe, and charming, with all the amenities that will make your visit one to remember. We believe Casa Crespo has it all! See you soon!
