A wonderful apartment in a fantastic central location in a beautiful city.
The apartment was very spacious e with two fully equipped bathrooms (showers though, no baths) including bidets. The kitchen was well spec’ed with coffee facilities and dishwasher a pleasant surprise.
The best bit is the terrace - we had many enjoyable evenings cooking back at the apartment and then eating al fresco and playing games late into the evening with the family. The terrace overlooks an internal garden area so other than the neighbours, there are no passing public which keeps it nice and private.
There is enough space that you can have alone downtime as there are several different seating areas and there are also chairs/couches in the bedrooms also.
All the rooms are decorated to a high standard and made for a very impressive impact on arrival.
Lucca itself is lovely. Chilled, relaxing place, with enough to keep you interested and not silly busy like Rome or Florence.
The aforementioned are riddled with tourist traps galore, but in Lucca I think we were approached only once by a restauranteur trying to belittle a neighbouring restaurant (not nice).
Other than that, every shop, cafe, restaurant and attraction had very polite attentive staff/owners who cared.
Loved the place. We stayed for two weeks and used it as a base to then train into Florence/Pisa etc. trains are cheap in Italy. Within the walls of Lucca there are no chain shops - so everything has to be locally produced, which was nice (if a little bit pricier).
On arrival the terrace wasn’t the cleanest and the cushions were dirty on their reverse sides, and there was some broken glass on the kitchen floor from a previous accident - nothing major, but glad we spotted it before walking bare foot around the apartment.
