We had a lovely weekend 17-20/4 to celebrate a 70th birthday with wider family. We chose the cottage location as it was half at between families. The large house is in a remote location which meant we were not worried about noise or our dogs. It was so peaceful listening to bird song in a morning and we we were lucky with the weather and had clear nights for star gazing. We visited castle Douglas town for a wander and a meal, and the gem rock museum and dark skies distillery too.The house itself is about 3/4 off farm track which we didn’t know but is not unexpected in a remote location. The house was larger and actually bigger than it looks on photos. We spent a lot of time downstairs. There was plenty of fridge space, plates and glasses. The rooms were clean and towels provided. Maybe needs a closer clean/dust in certain areas. Need to plan what you need food wise as 40min round trip drive if you’ve forgotten anything. Donald was great with communication and answered all questions we had. We would book again if up this way and needed a larger house.
