Very well maintained lake home. Lots to do. We enjoyed kayaking, yard games, swimming, cards in the cabin, family games and movies at night. Was a great place for getting the family together!
This property had all of the amenities we needed and then some! We were looking for a place to host a family reunion. This was not only the perfect size, but it was a perfect location! We had a lot of fun, a lot of privacy, and still able to get out and visit places nearby. The owners were very attentive, but also gave us plenty of room to enjoy our stay. We will definitely be back!
Everything was as advertised. The kitchen was extremely well-stocked. We really enjoyed our time by the lake. Our only regret is that the lake wasn't really swimmer friendly - very green...but, nothing the host can do about that!
Quiet lake, clean and comfortable cabin, well supplied (including 9 seasons of “I Love Lucy” on DVD!). The boys did some fishing from the kayaks, but unfortunately the lake was full of algae that week. It’s nice and shallow near the dock, but we couldn’t take advantage of that. The nearby town of New London was convenient. Check out the New London Coop and try to see the water ski show! Overall a great VRBO.
Southern Charm fits the description of a lake cabin, nothing fancy but meets your needs. The sleeping arrangements worked well for our family, there was plenty of kitchenware and towels, and the house was clean. There is not a lot of seating in the living area, around the firepit, or by the lake shore and we were glad we packed camp chairs. The lake is difficult to access from the shore as there is a rock retaining wall to prevent erosion with no real path to launch a kayak. Bring your water shoes as the lake bottom is weedy but that's not unusual in Minnesota. The dock was nice and we caught some huge bass from it. The lake wasn't overrun by speed boats, mostly fishing boats and pontoons. If you like a quiet place where the lots are separated by trees this would be a good choice for you.
We had a wonderful time staying at Woodford Preserve. It is rare to find a VRBO that allows pets so it was great that we could bring our little dog, Molly, who had the time of her life watching the squirrels and trying to catch bunnies. We had one absolutely beautiful day and enjoyed using the kayaks. My husband caught fish from the dock and also on the lake in the kayak. The cabin is nothing fancy but had everything we needed, including central air conditioning. I was surprised by how many things the host provides (extra toilet paper, tissues, bug spray, drinking water, firewood, etc.) that normally we would have to pack and bring. The location is fairly remote with no stores close by - best to stock up on anything you might need before heading to the cabin. This trip was just my husband and I so we didn't use the upstairs. Next time we might bring our daughters with us!
We had a great getaway at this peaceful lakeside home. Especially enjoyed morning coffee on the deck and lovely moments on the bench on the dock, soaking in the beauty of the lake. Pete from Seasonal Recreation met us at the public access with a nice pontoon rental as recommended by the home owners. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We enjoyed our stay this holiday weekend. The owners provided many extras such as shampoo, beach towels, kayaks, floaties for the lake, bug spray, etc. There really wasn’t anything extra that we needed. The water quality was not the best but we were told that was unusual. We still had a great time floating around at the end of the dock, kayaking, and fishing off the dock. We saw SO many fireworks all three nights we were there. It was great! Not many mosquitos until it got dark. Our group of 8- 4 teens and 4 adults had enough space to spread out when we wanted to and we had more than enough beds to sleep on! We would definitely come back especially if the water was clearer! Thanks!
We had a wonderful time staying at this cabin. It was adorable and very cozy! Plenty of sleeping space for 9 people. The owner was fantastic to work with!
This place was absolutely perfect for our relaxing girls weekend! It was very spacious and clean. The owner was very responsive and friendly. It had everything we needed! The lake was great for swimming. I would definitely stay here again!
Woodford Reserve was perfect for our family vacation this year. Roomy sleeping areas and even a pack-n-play. We made use of all the amenities - corn hole, ladder ball, grill, kayaks and really loved the large deck, not to mention the wonderful fire pit! The rhino floatie was a really big hit with the grandchildren. We would definitely come here again and recommend this to anyone who is looking for a relaxing lake getaway.
We all ( 6 adults & 1 dog) enjoyed are stay. The 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms(1 shower) worked out great for us. Nice deck to hang out on and a nice dock to pull our boat up to, but we trailered our boat every night.
We loved our stay here for a girls weekend with long-time friends. The house had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. The lake was lovely and so warm! We enjoyed the kayaks, the inflatables, the deck, the large yard, the peaceful setting, and the visiting deer. We also swam and floated (appreciated the virtually weed-free bottom!), went for walks, hiked at Sibley State Park, rented a pontoon for a day, and a couple early risers in our group enjoyed the beautiful sunrises. There was a supply of books, puzzles, and DVDs for inside time. The owner was very friendly and responsive to questions. It was nice how closets were labeled with what was inside - very organized! I would definitely recommend this lake home, for groups of adults like us but also for families with children.
Just about everything I expected. My family had a great time. I would definitely recommend this place.
Fue X.

About the host
Hosted by Angela Allen
We are an active duty military couple and intend to use this as our future retirement home. We want you enjoy our place as much as we do and find it a wonderful spot to make lasting family memories. We have made many updates to our home to include a Verizon MIFI hotspot, smart thermostat, ceiling fans in all bedrooms, newly painted walls, USB outlets, a firepit, water toys, and much more.
Why they chose this property
Nothing can beat being on the lake. We were attracted to the large lakefront yard and level waterfront access. Here you can enjoy swimming, fishing, or just sitting on the dock enjoying the sunrise and sunset (perhaps with a glass of coffee or wine?).
What makes this property unique
Being at the lake is all about shoreline, shade, and memories to be made. This property features all 3. There is level lakefront access for swimming and fishing, a large shaded yard for games, and access to kayaks and water toys.
