The Space:
The Slaaphuys has a story and was born as a milk shop in 1920, transformed into a Bed & Sauna in 2024. The layout was designed by Alkmaar designer Ro Smit, who created a thoughtful design with an open and clever layout featuring an outdoor sauna.

The front room originally belonged to the milk shop, and it is special that the original Alkmaar tiles on the wall have been preserved. The stained glass, the two interior doors, and the indoor window also date back to the original 1920 construction.

The Slaaphuys has its own entrance and is fully equipped. The front room, bedroom, and bathroom are individually heated by infrared panels, which work naturally like the sun, promoting health and supporting the immune system. The space also comes with yoga supplies for extra relaxation.

The bed and sauna form the heart of the house. In our king-size bed with a firm natural mattress and down bedding in washed linen, you will enjoy a wonderful sleep experience. The sauna can improve your night's rest by promoting relaxation and regulating body temperature. Cooling off after the sauna under the outdoor shower is, of course, a must.

The Slaaphuys is located on the ground floor and is designed according to the ancient Chinese philosophy of feng shui, known as 'wind and water'. This approach teaches that the environment influences your well-being and happiness. By shaping the space in this way, we strive for optimal energy flow and harmony. You can feel that.
