Each hut is thoughtfully designed to offer a warm, inviting atmosphere, where every detail has been crafted to ensure your stay is as relaxing as possible. From the plush bedding to the wood-burning stove, comfort is at the heart of these retreats. The prime location near our pub makes it easy to enjoy delicious meals and local ales, all while soaking in the serene surroundings. The area is a magnet for walkers, cyclists and tourists and attractions such as the Rococco Gardens and Prinknash Abbey are just a short drive away. Strolls in the local woods can be as long or leisurely as you wish and the less energetic can drink in the panoramic scenery from our terrace outside the pub.

A perfect short break
A very well equipped shepherd’s hut, comfortable bed and good shower. Just perfect for our 2 night stay. We lit the wood fire, it was warm and cosy, and I loved looking up at the stars!

A comfortable and relaxing break.
We couldn't fault anything about our stay - the shepherd's hut exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort and equipment. We had two very restful nights sleep! We enjoyed eating and drinking in the pub and found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The pub and hut were both very dog friendly. There was a generous welcome hamper which included everything we needed for breakfast during our stay and more.

A delightful cosy stay, in beautiful accommodation in an idyllic village location.
The shepherd's hut Annie was superbly equipped, very clean and stylish, we loved it. The engineering of the bed and the table were impressive and very neat. The wood burning stove and views over the hillside opposite were the icing on the cake. However, some agility was needed to climb into the bed which lowered for sleeping, but it was superbly comfortable. We appreciated the Laurie Lee connection, with the book, framed information, and huts named after his mother and his heroine, Rosie.
About the host
Hosted by Host
The Sheepscombe Valley was once part of a Royal Deer Park used by King Henry VIII, with the pub dating from around 1670. Its name comes from the practice in those days, of hanging the carcasses of deer killed on the hunt in what is now the bar area.
