Dinan Port Cottage | Private Parking | Two En-Suite Bedrooms | Dog-Friendly
La Petite Madeleine is a characterful old Breton cottage for four, situated in the historic Madeleine quarter just behind Dinan Port. Arranged over three floors, its exposed beams, stone walls and carefully chosen French furnishings give it a warmth and individuality that reflect the character of this centuries-old neighbourhood.
With reserved private parking and two en-suite bedrooms, the cottage is particularly well suited to two couples, friends or a family. The River Rance, waterside cafés and restaurants are only a minute’s walk away, while Dinan’s medieval centre can be reached on foot via the historic Rue du Jerzual or by the free local bus.
Officially classified as a 3-star Meublé de Tourisme, La Petite Madeleine has a king-size bedroom and a double bedroom, each with its own bathroom. It also has a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and separate laundry room.
Two bikes are provided for exploring the River Rance towpath and dogs are very welcome too.

First floor
The spacious main bedroom has a king-size bed and television, together with an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
Top floor
The second bedroom has a double bed and plenty of Breton character, with exposed beams and stone walls. It also has its own en-suite bathroom with a slipper bath and shower.
Lower-ground floor
Accessed separately from the street by a few downward steps, the laundry room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, particularly useful after days spent walking, cycling or exploring the coast.
What is included

Two bikes are also available for guests to use during their stay.
Private parking
A reserved private parking space is included with your stay. It is situated in a barrier-controlled car park approximately two minutes’ walk from the cottage and a fob is provided for access.
Guests can stop outside La Petite Madeleine briefly to unload before moving their car to the reserved space.
If you are travelling with a second vehicle, additional on-street parking may be available farther along Rue de la Madeleine, beyond the spaces reserved for residents. This is subject to availability and the local parking signs.
Dinan Port and the surrounding area
La Petite Madeleine is just one street back from Dinan Port, with the River Rance, restaurants and cafés only a minute’s walk away. Cross the old bridge for fresh bread and pastries or follow the riverside towpath on foot or using the two bikes provided.
From the port, you can take a boat trip along the Rance, hire a small boat or enjoy canoeing and other activities on the river.
The historic Rue du Jerzual leads uphill from the port into medieval Dinan, with its half-timbered houses, artisan shops, restaurants, market squares and impressive town walls. The free DINAMO bus also connects the port area with Dinan town centre and the railway station.
La Petite Madeleine is well placed for exploring the Emerald Coast, including Saint-Malo, Dinard, Cancale and Cap Fréhel. Mont-Saint-Michel is also within comfortable day-trip distance.
Important information
As you would expect in an old Breton house, La Petite Madeleine has steep, narrow stairs. It is unsuitable for guests with reduced mobility and may not be suitable for very young children.
With Dinan Port and the banks of the River Rance just around the corner, there are plenty of lovely places nearby to sit, stroll or enjoy time outdoors.
Dogs are welcome for a fee of €20 per dog, per stay.

La Madeleine was the perfect spot for our two couples to spend four nights, enjoying Dinan and the surrounding countryside. The charming little storybook house was a delight to return to each afternoon. The hosts could not have been more accommodating, making sure we had ideas for Ways to spend our days, and great Places to have our meals. I can’t recommend Lane enough to you!

This cosy house is in the perfect location; just a few steps from the port of Dinan. Communication with the managers was brilliant. The house is tastefully decorated and well equipped. There are also 2 bikes for use which was great. We had a lovely time here and enjoyed the restaurants along the river side. Would definitely recommend.

Whether you’re looking for relaxation, adventure or a little of both, we’re here to make sure you feel at home from the moment you arrive. We look forward to welcoming you!
Why they chose this property
After exploring many beautiful regions of France, we were completely captivated by the charm and natural beauty of Brittany. The Côtes-d’Armor especially drew us in, with its dramatic coastline, peaceful rivers, historic towns and breathtaking scenery at every turn.
But what truly made this place feel special was the warmth of the local community and the relaxed, easygoing rhythm of life. It’s a place where you can slow down, connect with nature, embrace Breton culture and still enjoy plenty of adventure.
It’s a region that feels magical in every season and we love sharing that experience with our guests, helping them discover the hidden gems, favourite walks, markets and coastal villages that made us fall in love with Brittany in the first place.
What makes this property unique
What makes La Petite Madeleine truly unique is its exceptional position just one street back from the riverside on Dinan Port, close enough to enjoy the lively waterfront atmosphere, yet perfectly tucked away for peace and relaxation.
Step outside and within seconds you’re by the River Rance, surrounded by waterside cafés, restaurants, boats, towpath walks and cycle routes, with the famous Rue du Jerzual leading up to medieval Dinan just around the corner.
This rare location means you can park the car and explore everything on foot: from riverfront strolls and sunset dining to historic landmarks, artisan boutiques and bustling summer markets, all only a moment away, without the noise or crowds.
Set in a beautifully restored 17th-century building with two en-suite king bedrooms, La Petite Madeleine offers the perfect balance of charm, convenience and calm. It’s a peaceful retreat at the heart of Dinan Port, ideal for soaking up the atmosphere while enjoying your own quiet space.
