About this property
Lucknow Cottage - pet friendly in Rodborough, near Stroud
Lucknow Cottage is the charming base you've been looking for from which to explore the Cotswolds. Sitting just above Stroud you are within walking distance of fabulous pubs and restaurants, cultural event spaces and beautiful open countryside.
Having been lovingly restored the cottage is full of character and you will see snippets of its old life throughout. Cotswold stone has been made a feature in the kitchen where a delightful dining space is perfect for a meal together after a long country walk. Sliding doors open to the cosy sitting room which looks across the front garden affording a peak at the hills in the distance. Set over three floors, the view comes into its own from the master bedroom. The lucky guests sleeping here can start each day with a spectacular scene of the rolling Cotswold hills and bustling town life.
The quaint front garden at Lucknow Cottage invites you to start the day with a slow morning coffee. Perhaps you'll explore the nearby area or visit one of the many picturesque towns and villages of the Cotswolds. Woodchester Mansion and Newark Park are fantastic for walks with the dogs, or you could play a round of golf atop Painswick Beacon, visit WWT Slimbridge Wetlands or catch a magical performance at Gifford's Circus when touring.
Ground Floor
Kitchen/Dining Room
This wonderfully light room is the hub of the house. There is space to prepare delicious meals with a large range cooker and you can dine together or chat over drinks long into the evening. Touches of gold add a sense of decadence to the room and sections of the old Cotswold stone have been left uncovered which adds character and warmth.
Sitting Room
Cleverly tucked behind a sliding door this room can be opened to expand the living space, or closed to create a cosy hideaway. The comfortable corner sofa allows you to laze before garden views or you can gather for a film night.
Utility
Adding some extra space at the back of the cottage, the utility is perfect for drying dogs after a walk and provides extra space for preparing meals or storing your essentials.
Cloakroom
A handy addition, the cloakroom lets you freshen up before dinner.
First Floor
Bedroom Two
With views across the garden to the trees beyond, this double bedroom creates a tranquil atmosphere. At the end of the day you will have a fantastic night's sleep ready to explore again in the morning.
Bedroom Three
If you are staying with friends or family, this twin bedroom adds some flexibility to the sleeping arrangements. Two single beds make it suited to younger guests and there is plenty of space for two adults sharing.
Bathroom
With a splash of colour in the striped tiles, the bathroom has both a luxurious rainfall shower and a bath, perfect for a long soak to relax tired legs after a long walk.
Second Floor
Bedroom One
At the top of the house is the glorious master bedroom. Exposing the history of the house is an exposed stone wall and wooden beams. This room is open to the stairs and makes the most of its raised viewpoint. The skylight above the bed means you can gaze at the stars before falling asleep. In the mornings, open the curtains of the picture window which frames a spectacular view across Stroud. This room really brings the outdoors in with its natural furnishings and use of neutral colours.
Outside
A charming front garden has space to enjoy a breakfast of tea and pastries, and if you head across the street you will find a fantastic playground with picnic benches and a basketball court at the community hall.
